Defeating Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine is the "best deterrence" for keeping Chinese President Xi Jinping out of Taiwan, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul, who traveled to Taiwan this weekend, said in an interview that aired Sunday. "I've talked to the prime ministers and the presidents of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, and what's happening in Ukraine will determine what happens in Taiwan and the Pacific," the Texas Republican said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "I believe the best deterrence to Chairman Xi is a failure for Putin in Ukraine." Weapons for Taiwan are also necessary to keep the peace, McCaul insisted.

That only works if we can get the electronics (read that: computer chips) and have the manufacturing capability in-country to do so.

Also only works if we don't have supply issues with our military. I've no idea if we do/don't.

My own observation, based on what I can read/find online, infer from what I've read, and anecdotal data is that if China invades Taiwan anytime before the 2024 election, we're likely hard-pressed to repel an invasion and would run short on munitions ourselves.

McCaul and his ilk wanted this proxy war with Russia. They did everything the could to make it happen. And, it has been a disaster and it is leading to de-dollarization.

The rest of the world is turning against, even countries we had good relations with like Saudi Arabia and India.
