I think the residents know very well if their neighborhood is peaceful or not. And the interviews I’ve heard say it is.
This is a tragedy. The kid did not deserve to get shot. The old guy should have yelled through the door that he had the wrong address.
I am not sure what happened here but I sure hope and pray that kid lives.

I don’t agree with some here. Some of these cases, people have no business shooting, just like sometimes police are trigger happy.
That Japanese student thought he was going to a Halloween party and was at the wrong address. It was a misunderstanding, partly due to language issues and guns being rare in Japan.
When I was growing up in Northern Virginia, some clown that someone was tampering with his fancy sport car at 6 AM and blew away the paper boy. He pled guilty to manslaughter and got no jail time, which I didn’t think was right.

Once one of my idiot mates thought it would be funny to violently bang on the front door of my house at 11pm shouting like a lunatic. He’s lucky I’m not a trigger happy senior citizen.
Yoshihiri Hattori had a bad habit of assaulting people in order to get pictures of their "surprised faces". Maybe you can get away with fccking around like that in Japan. It doesn't play so well in Lousianna. Maybe he didn't "deserve" to die, in the sense that he wasn't intending to do physical harm to anyone. Maybe. He did deserve to die, in the sense that he engaged in behavior that could not be distinguished from an actual attack.
Moral of the story: Don't pretend to attack people, and you won't be treated like an attacker.

One of the articles says there was no conversation between the two parties. If that is true then the kid didn’t demand anyone do anything.
Until you know the actual location you don’t know the crime rates it’s that simple and crime happens in some very good neighborhoods.
