-Ralph Yarl was shot through a glass door by a white homeowner in his 80s after mistakenly approaching the wrong address
-He had been going to collect his two younger twin brothers from a house less than a block away in Kansas City, Missouri
-Police have not brought any charges in the incident, and released the suspected gunman after 24 hours
A homeowner accused of shooting a black teenager in Missouri after the 16-year-old mistakenly rang his doorbell is understood to be an elderly white man in his 80s…
… Ralph was known among his peers for his intellect and for being a 'musical genius', before he was shot in the head and arm. The teen had received a letter from Yale Undergraduate Admissions Board identifying him as a 'good candidate' for the prestigious university. Ralph is part of his high school's Technology Student Association and Science Olympia Team, plays in the marching, jazz, and competition band, and is one of the top base clarinet players in Missouri. He had big dreams of attending college after being recognized as a Missouri scholar academy alumni in 2022.

“The facts speak: With a crime rate of 57 per one thousand residents, Kansas City, MO has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes”
However, residents who were interviewed said it’s a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. What is the crime rate in that particular part of KCMO?
Setting up common sense age limits for 2A. Why not…. A republican prez signed a bumpstock ban.
Yes - insanely trigger-happy. A lot of cops should never be issued a weapon and should be behind desks - or better yet, just become Walmart greeters instead.
Need to display extra caution when knocking on doors during midweek at 10pm. Lots of unanswered questions still. Sounds like an accident with enough variables to make the homeowner nervous, not enough to shoot, but then we don't have all the info. I'm leaning toward over reaction but still need info.
Not sure how every 80 year old (or any year old) (regardless of color) would respond to a black kid (or white kid) at their front door at 10PM demanding that they release 2 black kids (or 2 white kids) that they don't have.
In the last, oh, twenty (20) years, I've had one (1) person come to my door after 10PM and it was a policeman telling me that my wife had left her car door open.
I'd be interested in knowing if words were exchanged, and if they were, what they were.
whole lot of factors could be overlooked to boost the emotional reaction to this incident. It’s not about giving the reader or listener information, it’s all about the emotion.
That was a very dumb comment, IMHO. I looked at a map of the location. The streets are literally next to each other. I assume a mapping app brought him to the address.
I'm sure you've never, ever made even the slightest mistake in your perfect life, but some of us mere mortals get stuff wrong sometimes. I hope you can forgive us.
She said her nephew had to knock on three doors before he was helped, and even then was told to lie on the floor with his hands above his head.
Well, yes. I would call the police. What is the police response time in that neighborhood?
The article paints an open and shut case, yet the police let him go after 2 hours of questioning, no arrest. There likely is more to this story.
"Lawyer for the family, Lee Merritt, also confirmed that the suspect was detained for just two hours before being released,...
Clay County Prosecutor Zachary Thompson said his office has not yet received a criminal referral from the Kansas City Police Department to present charges for this case.
However, the prosecutor said his office is working with police to speed the process up so they can review the case and determine if charges are appropriate."
However, the determination of charges, and what they are, will likely depend on how big the "social unrest" is and not on any facts or violations of law.

Relax, it was a joke. The race hustlers have already turned this tragedy into a sick joke so I’m just throwing in my bits.
we're too busy teaching nonsense in schools like climate change and not spending enough time on good decision making and common sense. Are we teaching these young kids to obey police or run away because the overwhelming majority of cop shootings are because the perp didn't follow orders. And is it just me or should you be overly cautious approaching a house at 10PM on a weeknight when most people are sleeping or pretty much done for the night. And if you've never been to the house you are picking up siblings, that goes for you too.
wasnt biden’s advice to shoot thru the door?
Yes he made a mistake so no fault there. Now does that logic apply to the NM cops in thie past week shooting responding to the wrong address? If a genius kid as this one is described, and multiple educated officers all do not have that capability then who is at fault? The engineers designing streets? The pu lic works folks in charge of putting out street name signs and assigning house numbers? Definitely a hole in the logic there somewhere.

The police freed the old man and arrested the gun for aggravated assault with intent to commit murder. It’s being held without bail. The gun was also jailed for contempt of court because it refused to answer the hearing judge’s questions at the weapon’s arraignment.
The DA is hopes to persuade the old man to testify against the gun.
The weapon is reputed to be a jefe in the Western Hemisphere’s most notorious cartel, La Pistola del Norte.
'Academically gifted' but rather dumb (i.e., stupid).
