The homeowner who allegedly shot a black teen in the head after he mistakenly rang his doorbell in Kansas City was hit with two felony counts on Monday as prosecutors said he could spend the rest of his life in jail.
Andrew D. Lester, 85, was charged with assault in the first degree and armed criminal action for the shooting of 16-year-old Ralph Yarl in a crime that had a “racial component,” according to the Clay County Prosecutor Office.
Lester was not immediately arrested on Monday evening. A bond of $200,000 was set for the suspect.......

No it isn’t a “really bad neighborhood”; all of Clay County is a good neighborhood.
We don't know exactly what transpired. It could be the old gentleman has dementia. He could be hard of hearing. He obviously perceived a threat. In America everyone is assumed innocent until proven guilty.
So far it looks like the old guy saw his car in the driveway and the kid knocked on the door at 10PM and the old guy saw a black person out there and thought he was in danger and shot him.
So far I have read nothing much different than that.
I never answer my door unless I am expecting someone. If they see my car, they can text

But, if the guy were to get off for having dementia, lawmakers will make gun laws against old people.
Maybe if we were to actually lock up the loons again in this country America could just feel safe again.

Old man should not have answered the door. Should have sat in his Lazy-Boy with his gun in his hand and waited. Undoubtedly, this kid would have disappeared.
How does this kid get out of the hospital in four days after being shot in the head? The claim is his mother is a nurse who will be nursing him at home. His injuries are being hyped up by mama and you know who.
While that may be what happened, I will also point out that the media lies to use constantly.
