No American president has ever attended a British coronation. There’s only been seven coronations since the Declaration of Independence was signed. And then there was the War of 1812, so the US and England weren’t the best of friends for a number of decades.
It’s not that big a deal, but what’s the real reason Biden won’t go? It’s not because he can’t survive the plane ride, which I think was the first excuse we heard — he just went to Ireland. Maybe it’s because it would require him to spend too much time out of his coffin at one time.
