Alabama Dems abolish DNC-mandated LGBTQ, youth caucuses

If this is how the Alabama Democratic Party functions, perhaps it’s better that Republicans control Alabama.

And with this level of dysfunction within the Alabama Democratic Party, Republicans always will.

On Saturday, the state party’s executive committee met, in a manner of speaking. It’s not clear a quorum was present, and at least a couple of dozen committee members were turned away,

Next, the party voted to abolish several caucuses by a vote count that appears to have been made up and doesn’t come close to pictures of the standing vote taken by a reporter.

Youth caucus — gone.

LGBTQ caucus — gone.

Disable caucus— gone.

Until today, those caucuses had the power to nominate at-large members to ensure representation proportionate to Alabama Democratic voters.

This is a rather interesting article I stumbled across. Apparently, there is some in-fighting in the Alabama democrat party.

I'm not sure if the old-school Democrats are trying to wrest control of their party back from the progressives or what. Maybe some Alabama Freepers have more insight.

At least two dozen executive committee members were turned away, having been told they had not paid a $50 qualifying fee they say they were not warned about.

I see the White Marxist ex-Senator Jones is criticizing the Black-led state party run by Joe Reed. The AL Dems are Black majority now, since almost all the White elected officials, save for the Communists, have exited the party.

I don’t think anybody much cares about the Alabama Democratic Party caucus here in Alabama. It’s solid Republican. Solid Trump!

Having attended state party conventions for the GOP years ago, you have to really watch out for what the “leaders” do and say at those meetings. For instance, a few will gather at the front, quickly call a vote, those on the front few rows will shout “aye” and before the majority of the attendees are aware of what is happening, voting rules have been changed. I suspect something such as that happened here. Leaders in both parties work mainly to make sure that they are the ones who remain in charge.

The Alabama Democrat party leaders may have realized that progressives were useful for some things in moving policy forward, but were “getting too big for their britches” and trying to take over the party. It was hurting the old-school party member’s re-election chances, so they worked to put a stop to it.

Who are the “old school” Democrats in the Democratic Party in Alabama? Are they Blacks?

“I think it effectively kills the Democratic Party in Alabama if it stands,” Jones said.

The above links to an article from 2004 regarding the change of Alabama political leadership from the Democrats to the Republicans. Democrats in Alabama now only pull about 40% democrat votes in every state-wide election. Prior to the mid-1990s, the democrats had controlled the state since reconstruction.

Just wait until after the 2024 election and see what they do if they're still in charge.
