US decides to rejoin UNESCO and pay back dues, to counter Chinese influence

PARIS (AP) — UNESCO announced Monday that the United States plans to rejoin the U.N. cultural and scientific agency — and pay more than $600 million in back dues — after a decade-long dispute sparked by the organization’s move to include Palestine as a member.

U.S. officials say the decision to return was motivated by concern that China is filling the gap left by the U.S. in UNESCO policymaking, notably in setting standards for artificial intelligence and technology education around the world.

The move will face a vote by UNESCO’s member states in the coming weeks. But approval seems a formality after the resounding applause that greeted the announcement in UNESCO’s Paris headquarters Monday. Not a single country raised an objection to the return of a country that was once the agency’s single biggest funder.

The U.S. and Israel stopped financing UNESCO after it voted to include Palestine as a member state in 2011. The Trump administration decided in 2017 to withdraw from the agency altogether the following year, citing long-running anti-Israel bias and management problems.

UNESCO’s director general, Audrey Azoulay, has worked to address those concerns since her election in 2017, and that appears to have paid off.

“It’s a historic moment for UNESCO,” she said Monday. “It’s also an important day for multilateralism.″

Basically, we’re to resume paying UNESCO to tell us and the rest of the world that we’re the worst culture on earth.

The Chinese and the Middle East and Africa will just say “thanks for the money” but nothing about UNESCO will change, not one iota. The U.S. if it wants change will be outvoted every time. Why? All the UNESCO money helps feed corruption and political corruption around the world via who controls the UNESCO money locally.

Eff’n morons. We set our own policy, which begins with the U.S. government doing nothing. Why in the hell do we let incompetent, lazy ass government employees screw everything up? The U.S. government fails at the vast majority of the things they are supposed to do. Cultural and scientific policy is not one of the things government is supposed to do.

The only action we should have with the UN is helping them pack their bags and getting out of our country. We do that because we are a nice people.

U.S. out of the UN. The UN out of the U.S.

Even better or worse than that, so much better when you didn’t work for it, it isn’t yours, you get to employ and enjoy it without accountability or consequence and so sweet when you get the added benefit of feathering your own nest with it. What’s not to love?

No, the Biden regime decided to hand UNESCO $600 million of our money to a America-hating, Jew-hating, Israel-hating, Islamofascist organization, precisely because it is those four things.

Ding! DING! ding! Here's the winner.

If we had an honest media, and they actually did some investigative reporting; we would probably be shocked to find out how much money is being laundered by our government.

People who pushed moving our trade to China had no grasp of
how insidious it would turn out to be.

China now has to be dealt with on many issues it never would
have been if we left it as a decades behind industrial
culture.

Of course some folks knew, and wanted to damage the U. S.

Many folks thought they knew global dynamics better than the
folks who urged caution.

Now, thirty years later we’ve been proven right, but too
late. And that’s just as we predicted too.
