Garland defends discretion of special counsel in Trump documents case

Attorney General Merrick Garland defended the discretion of special counsel Jack Smith amid growing attacks on the prosecution and the Justice Department.

While he wouldn’t comment on the indictment of former President Trump directly, he said Wednesday that Smith’s work is a reflection of the Justice Department’s obligation to “independence and accountability.”

“When I appointed Mr. Smith, I did so because it underscores the Justice Department’s commitment to both independence and accountability,” Garland said.

“Mr. Smith is a veteran career prosecutor. He has assembled a group of experienced and talented prosecutors and agents who share his commitment to integrity and the rule of law. Any questions about this matter will have to be answered by their filings.”

Garlands comments, while brief, were his first public statement regarding the indictment.

Well of course he did.

Anything that’s necessary to reach the goal, that the executive power of the people should NEVER again be in the hands of a Republican, and especially Donald Trump.

The discretion to advance only those things that benefit the Democrats and the deep state.

“... of the Justice Department’s obligation to “independence and accountability.””

~~~
To decode him actually isn’t that hard. Here is what he is really saying.
“of the Justice department’s obligation to independence from republicans and of oversight and accountability to Biden and democrats”
My prayer is that these goons will lose the next Presidential, and that Donald Trump will be President.
I want to see each and every one of these DOMESTIC ENEMIES, including any and all Federal LEO complicit with them, tried for their heinous crimes.
Yes, nothing says Independence and accountability like dredging up and an ancient statue that has never been applied to crucify those who were definitely in violation of them but were politically connected. Bogus!
Garlands comments, while brief, were his first public statement regarding the indictment.
He read them from the templated cookie cutter language.
Ha....and, just like that....this regime has changed the REAL meaning of ‘independence and accountability’.
Everything they say, is a flat out lie.
Reminds me of the CDC changing the meaning of ‘vaccination’.
All is ‘explainable’ in the Dept of Just Us puppet, upside-down world.
How can a prosecutor be both independent and also accountable at the same time? If Smith is independent of the Biden Administration, then to whom is he accountable?
He can say what ever the hell he wants. We all know what is going on. If anything the doj/fbi and it’s many districts should be charged under the RICO standard. They are all conspiring and acting to influence the election.
Who is the deep state really unhappy with and will wage war on at this point?
The people elected Trump in 2016, and the Beltway got caught sleeping.
The people stood by our president while every federal agency violated every law on the books to bring down the Trump Administration in four long years of Crossfire Hurricane.
The people again voted in overwhelming numbers for Trump in 2020, an election still contested to this day.
The people refuse to cooperate with policies, initiatives, and self destructive policies aimed at stripping our liberties and freedoms.
The people are now supporting Trump after being indicted in an obvious political attack against their frontrunner in the 2024 presidential election.
The people are who the deep state hates. When they are done with Trump, we, the people are next. Why do you think they have been emptying the criminals from prisons and refusing to put them back in? Those prisons are for those who represent an existential threat to the Beltway cabal by spreading dissent.
