A tourist submersible taking groups to look at the Titanic wreckage has gone missing.

The Boston Coastguard is now looking for the missing vessel. The wreckage of the iconic ship sits 12,500ft- 2.5 miles - underwater around 370 miles from Newfoundland, Canada.

It's unclear how many people are on board and which company is responsible for it.

OceanGate Expeditions is one of the only companies that offers the tours. Tickets cost up to $250,000.

Yea, While i would love to have the experience of seeing the Titanic wreck in person i really don't think i would do it. Sitting in a tin can at 100 feet is bad enough but 2.5 miles down? No way....

Hope the people are ok but i kinda doubt it.

I am sorry that some people have more money than good sense

Would be kind of a cool trip if you have the scratch to spend. I’m sure that they had the people sign a release beforehand, like the Amazon space flights.

If there isnt a new crumpled can next to the wreckage then it may have been borrowed by another actor for use as a disposable asset.

Here is your potential problem from the article. A software crash or bug, and you are immobile.

Of course they’ve done a whole bunch of these without incident. I mean yeah, it’s a roll your dice take your chances situation. But so is driving. And eating French food. We all gotta go out sometime.

Do you mean the travelling exhibit where you got to touch the hull section? A lot of people did that, including yours truly.

From the CBC... "Submarine bound for Titanic goes missing" - Submersible reported missing after it was overdue by a couple of hours Sunday evening

A small submarine bringing tourists to the Titanic has gone missing 370 kilometres off the coast of Newfoundland while diving to the legendary wreckage.

The company behind the mission — OceanGate Expedition — says it is "exploring and mobilizing all options to bring the crew back safely."

There is no word on how many people are on board the submersible, but it has a limit of five people.

"Our entire focus is on the crew members in the submersible and their families," a statement from OceanGate reads.

The submersible was reported missing after it was overdue by a couple of hours on Sunday evening, according to Chief Mi'sel Joe — head of the Mi'kmaq band, which owns the ship from which it had launched.

Joe said he's getting constant updates on the situation. He said another submersible is being flown in from the United States to join the search.

"Your mind wanders to what could have happened, but we just don't know," Joe said. "We just pray that everyone is OK."

Overdue by a 'couple of hours'???... That's reassuring.
