Whenever the question is do Russians do this or know that, invariably the only correct question is some do and some don’t. You can be sure some Russians are fully aware Putin’s regime is the main enemy of the Russian people, a few even go so far as to form armed battalions and fight for Ukraine in the war. At the same time there are also Russians who gladly lay down their lives for the enlargement of der Vaterland. There’s a full spectrum of those in between too, these are just the extremes.
The problem with reaching Russians is manyfold. Foreign languague education is poor, so penetration of non-Russian media is poor. The country is vast and mainly carries state-sponsored or operated media, which present only one narrative. It is possible to find alternative sources, but you have to put a bit of effort into it and most people won’t. Furthermore activism is dangerous, the regime is not overly concerned if you watch anti-regime propaganda in your own home, but if you start spreading the news far and wide, you will face the prison colony sooner rather than later.
Predominantly, Russians adopted a stance of fatalistic passivism.
