Biden's Failure To Treat Sleep Apnea May Have Increased Risk of Dementia, Studies Show
Free Beacon ^ | June 28, 2023 | Andrew Stiles and Collin Anderson

President Joe Biden began using a CPAP machine "in recent weeks" to treat the sleep apnea he has suffered from since at least 2008, ABC News reported Wednesday. This new detail about Biden's health, revealed after observers noticed an unusual indentation on his face, suggests the octogenarian president has put himself at increased risk of dementia and cognitive decline.

Biden has suffered from sleep apnea since at least 2008, when Politico reported that Biden "has suffered from atrial fibrillation, or an irregular heartbeat," which doctors said was probably "linked to Biden's reoccurring problem of sleep apnea." Dr. Joseph Krainin, M.D., a medical advisor at SleepApnea.org, told the Washington Free Beacon that Biden likely suffered from "a certain type of sleep apnea where his brain forgets to breathe during sleep."

There is no mention of sleep apnea in White House physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor's summary of the president's health following Biden's most recent physical in February. Biden's medical records from 2019 revealed that he had several surgeries on his sinus and nasal passage. But surgeries do not always cure patients' sleep apnea, and patients may still need to use a CPAP machine after undergoing an operation, according to Alberta Health Services.

Failing to treat his sleep apnea with a CPAP machine—for more than a decade—may have put Biden at increased risk for dementia, studies show.

That's because untreated sleep apnea leads to intermittent oxygen deprivation in the brain, causing certain brain cells to die. Those brain cells are among the same cells "that we know die in dementia," according to Australian neuroscientist Elizabeth Coulson. As a result, Coulson and her coauthors found in a recent study, untreated sleep apnea can lead to increased risk of dementia.

A 2022 study published in the National Library of Medicine came to a similar conclusion: "Sleep apnea is associated with a significantly increased risk of dementia, particularly for Alzheimer's disease," the study says. A third study, published in the American Academy of Neurology's medical journal in May, found that people "with sleep apnea who spend less time in deep sleep are more likely to have brain health problems that could lead to dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or a stroke."

The revelation will do little to ease concerns over Biden's age and mental fitness. A whopping 68 percent of U.S. voters say Biden is "too old for another term," according to a Yahoo News/YouGov poll released in March. On Wednesday, hours before the White House confirmed Biden's use of a CPAP machine, Biden mistakenly told reporters that Russian president Vladimir Putin is "losing the war in Iraq," rather than Ukraine.

It wasn't the first time Biden has confused the two countries when discussing the Ukraine war. He also repeatedly referred to himself as a U.S. senator since becoming president in 2021. Biden was a senator when he voted to support the Iraq war in 2002.

Mistakes of this nature could be examples of "time-shifting," a common symptom of dementia. "Time-shifting is when a person's experience is that they are living at an earlier time in their life," the U.K.-based Alzheimer's Society writes on its website. "They may become disorientated and confused about time and place."

It's unclear how exactly Biden has treated his sleep apnea for the last 15 years. The White House did not return a request for comment on his history of using a CPAP machine or other sleep apnea treatments.

Other articles posted here noted that he has sleep apnea but didn't explain the possible dementia connection. The information in this article suggests that he has Alzheimer's.

I see no sign he's going to call off his reelection campaign - contrary to what so many people are saying. He just made a campaign speech yesterday. We might think he will be almost incapable of campaigning a year from now. But he'll keep getting confused on a daily basis and it will generally be ignored. If he's well ahead of Trump he'll likely decline to debate. If he does debate he'll say some weird, confused things like "God save the queen" and the usual incoherent garbled things. The media will say "This is what he meant", or just ignore it and say how sharp he was like The Emperor's New Clothes.

I agree. There's no reason he can't run a "basement campaign" as in 2020. Covid will no longer be an excuse, but it won't matter.

Biden's just a warm body to occupy the office. It's his handlers that will be up for re-election. And Democratic voters prefer Biden's secret handlers to any Republican.

I'd say most of his brain cells have died.

Not only does he have sleep apnea and dementia, but surgeons took out half his brain in 1988 and no one noticed!

We don't have his chart. But you would think his wife would be more proactive in his treatment due to constant snoring. Or they may not be sleeping together.

“And Democratic voters prefer Biden’s secret handlers to any Republican. “

I find it hard to believe (well, maybe not that hard to believe) that Biden’s secret handlers have managed to remain secret for so long.

Now it's "sleep apnea"? LOL!

Any follow-up on the "root canal" Biden had last week?

I found out I had “significant” sleep apnea a couple of years ago. No idea. Tried the CPAP with two different masks and just couldn’t sleep more than an hour at a time the whole 90 days. Went with a dental device instead. I don’t like it, but I sleep better and The Colonel’s Wife says I don’t snore nearly as much. I guess Biden could have been using a dental device for the last 15 years, but I kinda doubt it...

Angelino ,I think you’re right as far as it goes. The rat base prefers the handlers to any Republican. But the polls are clear that a majority do not want him as the nominee. If RFK, Newsom, or someone else decided to buck the party establishment and come on out and talk about his self-evident cognitive decline, I think that candidate could successfully primary
him. That’s a high risk gambit to be prepared to buck the party establishment’s blowback, but all could be won on that one roll of the dice. It’s amazing that the press has so successfully suppressed discussion of the elephant in the room

It's curious, isn't it. Everyone knows that Biden isn't in charge. But nobody knows who is. Obama? Ron Klain? Jill Biden?

I suspect that no one person is in charge. It's an oligarchic hive mind. Garland runs his fiefdom at Justice, answerable to no one. Likewise the CIA, Pentagon, Treasury, State are all doing their own thing.

Everyone's sort of on the same page, going in kinda the same direction (empire, DEI, globohomo). But there's also a lack of coordination, with occasional jurisdictional clashes and head butts.

I don't think this nation, its financial system, or its ruling elite, can survive a serious war or crisis.

I have had untreated SA for years and snoring was not one of my symptoms. I just had trouble falling asleep and thought I needed to pee 5 times per night. We blamed it on an enlarged prostate, when I finally got proper treatment I found that I slept through the night. Lungs and heart are weak as a result and I had two brain bleeds. SA is very dangerous — and not noticed by MDs until recently when they had good treatments . Mine requires a ventilator. CPAP is not high enough pressure.

biden has also been in permanent atrial fibrillation for decades, a condition in which the cardiac atria quiver instead of beat and the ventricles beat with an irregular pattern ... atrial fibrillation causes the loss of about 20% of the cardiac pumping power and, if not surgically fixed, requires a lifetime of anti-coagulation medication ... AND permanent atrial fibrillation ALSO has a correlation with dementia ... [best to get your afib fixed, folks]
