Pictures: Look What a Few Punishing Minutes of Baseball-Sized Hail Did to Massive Nebraska Solar Farm(follow up?)

Renewable energy is the alternative that Democrats and other environmental nuts want to replace reliable oil, gas and coal.

But time and time again, people who rely on wind and solar power have had to learn the tough lesson that such alternatives are both undependable and susceptible to the same elements they are supposed to harness.

Nowhere was that more true than in Nebraska, where a thunderstorm dumped baseball-sized hail on a solar farm on Friday at a speed of 150 mph — destroying the facility in just a few minutes.

Cowboy State Daily reported a storm moved east out of Wyoming where it wreaked havoc just across the state line on a solar farm in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

The facility previously touted its benefits for the area on its website.

“Scottsbluff, Nebraska’s 5.2 MW Community Solar project is a part of NPPD’s Sunwise program,” the facility states. “The solar array has over 14,000 solar panels, which are installed on trackers that will follow the sun throughout the day.”

It doesn’t look like the panels will be tracking anything for the foreseeable future. The facility appears to be a total loss:

Heart cockles warmed. Sorry, NOT sorry. I wonder if there is any enviro impact. Besides shattered glass and stuff. More in another post about the positive effects of solar.

I watched videos of people in Texas who, in winter, suffered a loss of electricity because of enviroNazis "Green" energy initiatives. They were suffering because of liberal sloth, indolence and stupidity.

Solar. Wind power. EVs. It's all a novelty, but is never going to replace petroleum and nuclear power.

They should make the entire solar farm out of whatever those two remaining panels are made from.

Wonder if it was insured?

How about the 1000’s of gallons of glycophosphate weed control necessary to keep the panels functioning. It will be a toxic waste dump.

Solar has its place. When I lived in Florida, I had solar panels on my roof for my screened in pool. Not electric - water from the filter flowed up to the black rubber panels, heated and returned warmer to the pool. The place for solar is NOT to replace reliable natural gas and oil, or nuclear.

No, the damage looks about right for randomly falling large hail dropping on horizontal plastic coated glass panels.

What kind of dumbass builds what is basically a 10 acre glass window in that location? Large hail is practicality a guarantee.

Does Florida get hailstorms?

In Texas, there’s no way I would install solar panels with all the hailstorms we get here.

Yah, I laughed. Like the treehugger idiots in Tx who installed windmills that could not withstand winter.

Baseload plants (e.g., dams, coal, gas, nuke, etc.) all have to plan for all sorts of ......... not quite normal events like floods, quakes, etc. But, the bribe-taking morons who salivate over this “sustainable” BS don’t bother.

Only a few places in the US do not have hail storms.

This never seems to happen to coal plants. We should look into coal as a source of energy in the future.

Large hail is practicality a guarantee.

It’s a law of nature, just like mobile homes cause tornados and laboratory mice cause cancer. 😂
