Ben & Jerry's Suggests Returning 'Stolen Indigenous Land' in July 4 Message

In a Fourth of July message, Ben & Jerry's called on the United States to "commit to returning" stolen Indigenous land.

The company defends its activism and states on its website that its social mission is to "eliminate injustices in our communities by integrating these concerns into our day-to-day business activities."

On Tuesday, the company marked the federal holiday celebrating the nation's founding by calling on the U.S. government to give back the "stolen Indigenous land" upon which the nation was formed, Ben & Jerry's said in an online statement that the company shared on Twitter.

"This 4th of July, it's high time we recognize that the US exists on stolen Indigenous land and commit to returning it," Ben & Jerry's tweeted Tuesday morning.

Ben & Jerry's proposed that the U.S. "start with Mount Rushmore." In the statement, the company highlighted the history of the iconic South Dakota sight and its significance to Indigenous Americans.

"What is the meaning of Independence Day for those whose land this country stole, those who were murdered and forced with brutal violence onto reservations, those who were pushed from their holy places and denied their freedom," the company said. The faces on Mount Rushmore are the faces of men who actively worked to destroy Indigenous cultures and ways of life, to deny Indigenous people their basic rights."

Although this is infuriating, Ben & Jerry's has been woke from the get-go, and I doubt if many patriots eat their ice cream.

Why don’t they just return Vermont to the Indians?

They need to surrender their stuff as a example for the others.

Let Ben and Jerry led by example. I’m sure both of them are sitting on lots of acres of “stolen land”

A couple of rich communists virtue signaling via their multi-billion dollar corporation. Put up or shut up, fake hippies, and donate all your property to the Indians.

Well, lead by example, have they returned their land?

I propose Ben and Jerry's and their parent company Unilever, give back every bit they hold first. Lead by example. And I mean give. Not sell.

All the people who claim we’re on “stolen land” never give up their own land to any native tribes.

” Why don’t they just return Vermont to the Indians?”

Yes, Vermont is the whitest state in the Union. Start where you can “do the most good!”

Reparations are only to be paid by the little people.

I gave up Cherry Garcia because of some buffoonery of theirs in 2016. I was buying it at Target to boot. Turns out Blue Bunny Cherry Chocolate Chunk is an acceptable substitute, if not better, and I get it at Smart & Final.

I suppose they don’t see that it’s ALL stolen indigenous land? That would mean that all European Americans need to be put on a boat and sent back to the continent they came from. That way the stolen land can be returned to the “original settlers”.

Take a look at the globe. This is the story of Everywhere. There is no fixing it.

If every country had to return all land acquired by conquest, all of humanity would be huddled in some very small, limited areas in which they couldn’t fit. It’s absolute nonsense.

Every country presently in existence is on “stolen land” in the sense that some ancient people lived there at one time. F off, Ben and Jerry.

All land is stolen land. Humans have been conquering one another as long as we’ve existed.

No such thing as Indigenous Americans (north or south). Every last person in the Americas got here from somewhere else or descended from those who got here from somewhere else.

Back then property ownership was whatever you can occupy and defend.

It didn’t work (for them) and when when permanent structures were starting to be built it changed the whole model.

Who would invest on a property you could not own.

TREATIES WERE SIGNED, fees were paid. Admittedly the handful of beads the Indians got from us to ‘own’ a useless long island was a pretty good deal...

Nothing is stopping these ice cream freaks from donating their property to whomever including an indian tribe.
