I’m no climate change nazi, but I gotta say - we’ve had a terrific row of 110 and above with no end in sight. Seems a little hotter than usual for so long a period. My electric bill is going to be satanic.
And turned into limestone. Amazing!
The Mississippi Gulf Coast seems about normal today. Blazing hot with typical pop up thunderstorms. It is 68 degrees though in my house. My pool on the other hand has become uncomfortably warm at 98 degrees. Maybe this dust storm can block some of the sun and cool the water down a bit. Come on Sahara dust storm!

The Sahara has been desert for thousands of years.
WHAT wind system blows 5,000 miles from East to West, over an ocean to land here ?
Come on, man.
Wildfires blowing from west to east will meet Sahara sand blowing from east to west . . . ya . . . right .
We’re getting consistent highs over 110 west of Tucson, and no rain in the forecast for the next week or more. Come on, monsoon!
Canadian smoke, Saharan dust and record-high single-day global temperatures. Are we doomed or are we doomed?
Dust in the wind. All we are is dust in the wind.
Dust cloud goes over water. Gets wet. Falls down.
We’re all gonna die!
Happens every year. Or just about.
First - global satellite temperatures did not even begin until 1979.
So, we are discussing the alleged hottest temps in 43 years - NOT in global history.
Second - the satellite temperatures are charted by their MONTHLY average.
They are NOT charted day by day, which is how the RECORD HOT temps have been reported.
If compared MONTH by MONTH, the average global temp for May and June 2023 is equal to, or less than, 21 (21!) previously posted months, starting with the El Nino year of 1998.
Almost all of those previous high monthly temps came in El Nino years, which we have just begun in 2023.
I had to reduce the chart size below to fit the page. If you need a larger image, click here...

YUP; according to sea core samples this has been a regular thing for many hundreds of thousands of years.
Will the dust affect the efficiency of our solar panels? Sue in international Court and reduce monetary aid to these countries. This is pure theft of our energy resources.
It also feeds planktonic algae which are at the bottom of the food chain and which generate the majority of atmospheric oxygen, so quit your complaining.
I'm way south of Fairbanks in Wasilla. It's been a cool dreary summer so far. I don't remember it being this cool this long ever. At least we have no major forest fires for a second year in a row.
Archaeology experts claim the the Sahara was once a tropical area, with lush landscapes.
