Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed constitutional amendment on gun safety has two great things going for it. The first is that it aims to protect four popular and modest commonsense restrictions: a ban on assault weapons, mandated background checks on gun buyers, a waiting period before buyers can take possession, and a minimum purchasing age of 21.
All four requirements are already law in California, where they contribute to a gun death rate that’s about 37% lower than the national average.
All four are currently in peril as the U.S. Supreme Court continues to strike down reasonable gun laws. Under Newsom’s proposal, all four would become law nationwide.

Biden claims to be running but that’s only to not appear as a lame duck.
It could be Gavin doesn’t even campaign but is given the nomination by the Democrat party.
It doesn’t matter if California streets are filled with feces, crack pipes, derelicts and needles.
People will vote for him in droves so they can do all manner of interesting things with their genitals. I’m not trying to be funny because it’s true.
Amending the Constitution is the ONLY legal path for those trying restrict RKBA.
I hope Newsom runs a very aggressive campaign against 2A. Even many dimocrats would be opposed to this.

Some day ,a child will sue the state and tell them if I’m old enough to okay major surgery,I’m okay to say no to school and yes to drinking, driving a car and smoking...... What will the excuse be??? They are too young to make those choices????

To ‘give the devil his due’, if they want to restrict guns, this is the only proper way to go about it, rather than court decisions or state laws.
