The Biden administration invites in illegal aliens infected with one of America’s greatest killers: Tuberculosis is a deadly scourge that’s coming to America

Much as leftists insist that border controls are all about racism, the reality is that one of the prime reasons to have border controls is to protect against deadly diseases. That’s especially true when people from countries with poor health care cross our borders illegally. (Legal border crossers, of course, must prove their good health.) We’re being reminded of the practical benefit of border controls as news emerges that the Biden administration is welcoming in illegal immigrants with tuberculosis, once the deadliest disease in America.

Looking back at American history, you’d think that leftists would be exquisitely sensitive to the risks of diseases coming to America from unchecked immigration. After all, current estimates are that 90% of the indigenous people in the New World died following their first contact with European explorers because they lacked immunity to diseases common in Europe.

By the end of the 17th century, although people didn’t yet understand germ theory, they had figured out that it was wise, when a ship came in from foreign shores, to require the ship to remain in quarantine for a short while to ensure that no one on board was actively ill. In Charleston, South Carolina, quarantining ships in the harbor was mandated from 1698 to 1949 to prevent infectious diseases from overwhelming the city.

Of course, immigration control or not, some diseases are endemic, and nothing will stop their spread through society. One of those diseases is tuberculosis. When I grew up, we were routinely tested for TB at school (my kids, incidentally, were not). However, in the old days, TB was a disease that could lie hidden and dormant for years before bursting into flower.

That’s why it should concern all of us that the Biden administration’s open, broken border policy has resulted in thousands of children with TB being released across America:

The government is releasing thousands of illegal immigrant children with latent tuberculosis infections into American communities without assurances of treatment.

Nearly 2,500 children with latent infections were released into 44 states over the past year, according to a court-ordered report on how the Health and Human Services Department is treating the children.

About 126,000 total were released, indicating an infection rate of 1 in 50 migrant children.

The government says it can’t treat the children because they are in custody for a short time and treatment requires three to nine months. HHS releases infected children to sponsors and notifies local health authorities in the hope that they can arrange for treatment before the latent infection becomes active.

Those hopes are often dashed.

Local health officials say the notifications are infrequent and the child has often already arrived when they are told about a case in their jurisdiction.

Democrat and Republican presidents alike required immigrants to pass a medical check. Fail the check, and back you go. It was simple common sense.

But now it’s not common sense. It’s racism.
We will pay greatly for this idiotic change of view.

It is as it always has been with these evil power hungry creatures. The ends justifies the means. If thousands of American kids get TB or die from drug poisoning so be it. As long as we bring in enough rat votes to never lose power again, fine. All the while Mitch and his merry band of GOPe collaborators do nothing.

Ebola and Zika never made it to American shores until obama allowed it.....and then laughed it off as American hysteria......think about that.

TB ridden illegal is in New York, this is true. Due to hippa laws prote ting actual citizens, citizens cannot be warned about this highly spreadable disease.

If I was a farmer and I knowingly shipped produce infected with salmonella, or a rancher who sold cows infected with anthrax, do you think I would get in trouble?

TB killed my great great grandfather in Wales shortly after my great grandfather was born. TB killed my great great grandmother in 1852. The children in the family were made wards of their uncle in Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn at that time. At age 18, my great grandfather escaped to Liverpool, then signed on as ship's company in 1863 for passage to America. When I visited Wales to dig up these details, I saw cemeteries filled with whole towns taken by TB. Often a family would be stricken and dead within a period of weeks.

The US has been fortunate to have limited TB for a very long time. Biden changed that. TB (likely multiple drug resistant) will be spread in our schools by the illegal invaders.

I am not a doctor, but I’ve read that one problem with treating TB is that people stop taking the antibiotics after the symptoms go away. The expense and the bother are the reason, besides they feel just fine. Problem is hey still have TB and can spread it, but because they stopped treatment early, resistant strains of TB become more common.

Now do we think that illegal immigrants are going to stay the course of TB treatment over the six to nine months it takes to beat the disease?

I lived in Asia for 25 years.

I had TB as a child in Alabama. I test positive for one of the types of hepatitis. Most people that live in the 3rd world test positive for hepatitis. (the food food and water borne variant)

Non-compliance with treatment is definitely contributing to development of multiple drug resistant strains. I worked with TB in the lab in college. We grew it on a slant agar that looked like pistachio pudding (pale green). The colonies were a waxy yellow. In vivo, the TB organism becomes an intracellular infection. That makes it hard to get the antibiotic through the mammalian cell wall where it then must find a way through the waxy cell member of the TB organism.
