Tennessee legislator Justin Jones, a pro-gun control activist, tweeted: "We have an obligation to condemn Jason Aldean's heinous song calling for racist violence. What a shameful vision of gun extremism and vigilantism." But fans of Aldean rallied to his defence. One comment on the YouTube video accused the media of celebrating rap songs glorifying violence, "but a video by a country singer about self defense and neighbors looking out for each other is banned".

Jason Aldean’s wife Brittany is defending her country star husband amid the backlash to “Try That in a Small Town,” after many listeners have denounced the song and music video as “racist dogwhistling” and glorification of gun-based vigilante justice.
In an Instagram Stories slide, Brittany puts the blame on the “media” for misconstruing the message behind the song.
“Media...it’s the same song and dance. Twist everything you can to fit your repulsive [narrative],” she writes, against a backdrop of a cloudy sky and a palm tree blowing in the wind.
“How about instead of creating stories, we focus on the REAL ones such as CHILD TRAFFICKING? Food for thought,” Brittany continues.

It’s not in our best interest to get in the mud with swine. But if they want to use the 1927 Henry Choare’s lynching as a weapon to exact some kind of Justice, two can play that game. I’d start with Ethan Lemming at the top of my list.
