He has a big trump card in this regard. Two actually. The starlink network is already massively important and in 20 years will control global communication and much military stuff will be dependent on it.
The other is heavy lift capacity. No other person, company, or nation can come close to what Musk can put in space. Our military is also increasing dependent on his capabilities.
Neither of those are going away. They would have to be nationalized to get rid of Musk and then they would fall apart.
