Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley said Monday that frontrunner candidate and former boss Donald Trump will never win the 2024 general election.
“We can’t have, as Republicans, him as the nominee. He can’t win a general election. That’s the problem. We’ve got to go and have someone who can actually win,” Haley told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”
But she said she will ultimately back Trump if he becomes the GOP standard bearer, despite her concerns about his chance at success.
“I would support him because I am not going to have a President Kamala Harris,” said Haley, 51, referring to the vice president, who is next in line to the White House should something happen to 80-year-old President Biden.
“We can’t afford that,” said Haley, the US ambassador to the UN under ex-President Trump. “That is not going to happen.”
Trump, 77, has a yawning 33.3 point lead over the 2024 GOP field, while Haley is in a distant fifth place in the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.
Haley insists it’s still very early.
“This is a marathon, it’s not a sprint,” she said Monday. “We’re just getting started. This will really start to shake up post-Labor Day,” she said.
The former South Carolina governor also highlighted Trump’s mounting legal predicaments when discussing the weakness of his candidacy.
“There’s probably going to be a fourth indictment,” she speculated.***

Good for you Nikki. Now stop wasting resources in the primary. No way are you going to win any state, including your own. Drop out of the race and urge the 0.0002% that are idiots enough to vote for you to vote for Trump. Then quietly go away to never be heard from again.

Nikki starting to hedge her bets. Watching that VP slot with Ron blow up along with his campaign. Already blew that possibility with Trump. Now aiming for something, anything in the Trump administration to stay relevant.
It would actually be funny to see any one of the losers running against Trump, get the nominee, and have the election stolen from them. None of them have actively claimed the 2020 election was stolen, so it would be interesting to see what line they'd use when the election was stolen from them, which it surely would be. Democrats will continue to steal elections. They just want Trump out of the way so they don't have to go to the great lengths it would take to steal it from him again.
Translation = The voters will elect Trump, but the deep state will apply “quality control measures” to the opposing state approved candidate. They also call it “Fortify election results”.

You're right. I'm a 76 year old white woman, and I've already vowed that I will never hold my nose again to vote for the likes of the Bushes, McCain, Dole, or Romney. I'd write Trump's name in, or not vote at all.

You just cruised over the whole point. What she really is saying is that NO REPUBLICAN will win. We are now surrounded by enthusiastic democrat voters; they’ve got the tactics down to get their voters out in droves. Republicans, and many here I might add will simply stay home and then complain about it for years afterwards. Republicans also lack the mechanism to get the vote out.
This if you really think it matters what button you tap. The powers that be behind the curtain already know who the next president is. Your vote, or mine really doesn’t matter in my opinion anymore.
It is obvious that only a post-menopausal carpetbagging woman of Indian descent can win the election.
