Democrats press McCarthy for vote on gun reform ‘as soon as possible’

More than 100 Democrats are calling on Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to schedule votes on gun violence prevention legislation, the latest push by members of the minority party to spark action on gun reform.

In a letter to McCarthy on Thursday, the Democrats — all members of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force — asked that McCarthy bring firearm-related measures to the floor “as soon as possible.”

The lawmakers also laid out a “new standing request” that if leadership is ever forced to change the vote schedule or cancel votes altogether — which happened last week — that they would fill the open time by considering gun violence prevention legislation instead of scraping votes altogether. The House left for recess one day early last week after GOP leadership was forced to punt a vote on an appropriations bill amid internal disagreements, canceling votes on what was supposed to be the final legislative day before August recess.

Any "gun reform" based on making it harder for law abiding citizens is unconstitutional.
But that's all we're going to get.

Shorten the statement to "The right to bear arms shall not be infringed."

If they want to add a clarifying statement:

"Because the DEEP STATE has proven to be as tyrannical as the British Monarchy."

More than 400 mass shootings have occurred this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

One suspects that this figure is highly inflated, including the term "mass shooting".

One also suspects that a large percentage of the actual shootings were performed with illegally obtained weapons and/or involved circumstances which violated existing laws before a shot was fired (meaning gun control laws don't stop criminals from being criminals).

***to schedule votes on gun violence prevention legislation,***

That problem was solved in 1968! The Democrats said so!

“Today we begin to disarm the criminal and the careless and the insane. All of our people who are deeply concerned in this country about law and order should hail this day.”-— Lyndon Johnson signing the 1968 gun control act into law.

And Thomas J. Dodd, who wrote the 1968 gun control act using the 1938 Nazi weapons law as a pattern...

“No one can predict how many lives will be spared because of this bill, but, if the bloody record of our yesterdays is any measure, millions of future Americans will live to enjoy the promise of many peaceful tomorrows.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play a part in this great moment in our time.”— Thomas J. Dodd on passage of the 1968 Gun control act.

Help FJB go over 100 million ballots this time.

Yeah, half of the ballots will be fake-by-mails, just like 2020.
