The problem with so many promising candidates is that the GOP consultants get hold of them, encourage them to “moderate” their positions and soon the candidate is much the same as Pence, Christie, Haley, etc. And has similar support from conservatives.
The consultants walk away with their money and have no care that they destroyed a viable candidate. The candidate is kicking themselves for taking their advice but soon realizes it is too late to return to their prior position. Who would believe them?
I’m of the belief that most GOP consultants are actually Democrat supporters.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: DeSantis wanted to run for President in the worst possible way, and he has.
It’s as painful as watching the Rays collapse with four of their original starting pitchers out for the season with injuries (Springs, McClanahan, Rasmussen, Baz, maybe even Glasnow).
DeSantis was the best governor FL has had in my lifetime, but not only has he ruined his chances for national office, he has all but ensured that a Dem will become governor in 2026, repeal everything he has done, and turn FL blue for as far as the commie eye can see.
The last GOP wave year was 2014. Everyone was mad as hell and Republicans were running ads promising federal day care.
DeSantis and the folks sucking his campaign dry are on the wrong side of history. It’s a very sobering place to be. Sadly, at this point they’ve already taken stock of the perceived reality around them and made the wrong call. They may be one of the first parts of the Deep state to go down. We are indeed in interesting times.

I keep seeing people theorize about this, but the fact is, there is no process that can “disqualify” Trump from running. They can convict him of 50 crimes and sentence him to life imprison and he’d still qualify to run.

Has nothing to do with consultants.
Has to do with the establishment money men. They are all captive to them and those people don’t give a crap about you or this country… just about getting a cut of thr graft as they sell it out.

This campaign statement from Trump is rich. If he’s convinced that DeSantis is finished, then why keep pummeling him?
Speaking of “hat tricks”, it’s Trump who takes the cake:
(1) Indicted in New York
(2) Indicted in Florida
(3) Indicted in D.C.
This doesn’t include what’s coming down in Georgia, along with all the civil litigation.
He’s already flushed 2028 down the toilet.
