AUSTIN [TX] — Austin Independent School District announced it will use buses to transport children and their families as well as staff to the “Austin Pride Parade” on August 12.
“We are proud to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and families,” AISD said on their website, “and highlight our commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all!”
The parade, which will start at the Texas Capitol, runs 1.2 miles and ends at Congress Bridge.
According to the AISD website, the district encourages students to wear “Pride costumes and rainbow colors” and will also provide a limited number of “Austin ISD Pride T-shirts” for students in attendance.
“As a member of the House Public Education committee, I heard all session how ‘underfunded’ public schools were,” State Rep. Brian Harrison (R–Midlothian) said. “Since Austin ISD has enough $$$$ to shuttle kids to and from the Austin Pride Parade, I can assume they are ‘fully funded.’”
“When people ask why they should support school choice, this is a good place to start,” said Brady Gray, president of Texas Family Project.
In February, Gov. Greg Abbott made school choice a priority item for the 88th Legislature.
In June, Abbott announced his intention to hold a special session for school choice after Senate Bill 8, the proposed school choice legislation that would create ESAs for students’ use, died in committee in May.
A special session on school choice is expected to be held in the fall.
Why doesn’t Abbott lay down the law and say “No school funds will be used for Perversion indoctrination and Alphabet crapola.”
The school boards, the superintendents, the administrators, the teachers and the involved activists are predominantly socialists glory bound for indoctrination and destruction of the culture. They won’t moderate without job loss and even then it may take repeated applications of the corrective.
Reduce their income, cut the staff, fire those that can be assigned the involvement that made it possible.

My sister spend her entire career teaching middle- and high-school kids math at multiple schools in the DC / Baltimore area. She personally saw staff and administrators go up TEN TIMES on a per-capita basis. You can draw the perfectly inverse relationship between staff count and test scores.
When the schools complain about “underfunding,” just hack the staff to the bone. There’s plenty of money.
Another sad reason to homeschool.
We're supposed to have such a conservative, super-majority Republican legislature, but they fall short so many times on critical legislation. It's a disgrace.

......I graduated from Austin High a lonnnggg time ago. So, I know a little about AISD. Today, it is a failing school district due to LIBERALISM. Here are the numbers:
961,855 is the official population of Austin
78 elementary schools, 19 middle schools and 17 high schools currently are operating in AISD.
There are, + or - 5%, 261,417 kids under 18 in Austin. Only 27.5% of them go to Austin Government Schools. Enrollment is collapsing and many, many schools are closing, see below:
2016-2017: 83,270
2017-2018: 82,766
2018-2019: 81,346
2019-2020: 79,789
2020-2021: 75,075
AISD wastes $11,000 per kid. Government school districts like AISD should be closed and re-opened as charter schools funded by a voucher system and union free. To do otherwise is to rob less fortunate kids of a good education.
