Karl Rove on Trump, first GOP debate: ‘I would show up if I were him

Republican strategist and Fox News contributor Karl Rove suggested former President Trump should show up to the first GOP debate, which he has floated the idea of skipping.

Fox News’s Bill Hemmer asked Rove whether he would attend the first Republican debate next week if he were Trump, who has yet to announce whether he will attend. Rove said he would, noting that Trump will still face some problems if he shows up.

“There are dangers … if he shows up, he will be attacked by everybody in one way, shape or form,” he said on “America’s Newsroom.”

He said some GOP candidates, like former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, will be “hard” and “direct” when attacking Trump while others will try to “move around him.”

Yeah, but you are not him, Karl. You wouldn’t rate to polish his shoes.

Turd blossom needs to realize he’s no longer relevant and get into some eating contests for his next five seconds of fame.

2016 group of billionaires and republicans met at Sea Island Georgia 4 miles to the north of Jekyll Island. It was hosted by Karl. Their objective was to “stop Trump”

Correct choice is “if I were he.”

From grammarexperts.com
In the case of ‘If I were he/ him…’, we need the subject pronoun because it is the subject complement and not the object. The rule says the pronoun that follows a linking verb is and should be a subject complement, not an object. Here, ‘were’ is a linking verb and needs predicate nominative after it.

But another wimps out and says so many people say it the wrong way that only “pedantic types” would use the correct word to avoid sounding unusual to the ignorant.
I will not give up my English language.

Strictly speaking, it should be ‘If I were he’ . Both the ‘I’ and the ‘he’ should be in the nominative (or subject) case.

A loser on this site thinks so many have become accustomed to the wrong way that WE should lower our standards to them and say it wrong.

He’s always been a squish idiot who follows the meek path to everything in politics. Trying to be friends to everyone in order to get the most votes.

POS is a natural born loser. Bush won in spite of this pork rind.

Trump likely already knows that doing the opposite of what this turd suggests is the prudent course of action.

Rove: I’d show up if the all you can eat buffet food was any good before the debate. No health food bars and iced tea.
