Me too, but just barely. The hamburgers and fries at the local A & W somehow always tasted better off a carhop tray... Better times that my heart and soul ache for.
Same here. I also feel like I get faster service when I go in.
I also prefer doing my own grocery shopping. I’ve never had them delivered. Not saying I never will, but so far, a weekly grocery shopping trip works for me.
Seriously, go to most local large stores and all I hear is everyone yammering in Spanish. Discouraging it seems no one is interested in cultural assimilation. I wonder what happened that I feel like a stranger in my own country.
In a generational period of non-symmetrical civil war, enemies are often camouflaged within the social construct. This is done intentionally to make enemy combatants non-discernible. The individual person’s radar perceives unknown environmental constructs of unknown or unknowable social gatherings as a potential threat to life and safety... it’s built-in to the human self-preservation radar. However...
In a homogeneous peaceable context, people enjoy bathing in the cultural and generational zeitgeist of the times. They become comfortable in almost any gathering event, since most everyone in it... is largely similar to each other.
Right now so many of us are so acutely aware of keeping our head on a swivel, and anticipating nutcases jumping out of the woodwork... that we are normalized to operating in a constant, state of CW2 threat analysis.
Personally, I prefer only going into places that are likely to consist of higher class clientele, which means more affluent, security and situationally aware folks may be prevalent... people more “like us”.
Whether or not it turns out to be true... eating at a pizza store in the mega shopping malls, or at a local coffee shop where a person can walk in and spend less than 10 bucks, sporting a BLM t-shirt and a duffel back can be present without being noticed... it seems to be a social environment that is more attractive to the local nutcase environmentalists, feminist and lgbxyz mentals cases, than a place where they are typically all dressed business casual and $45 per person per person for lunch is normal cost of the menu items available...
In the latter environment, the perceived probability for catching disease, experiencing violence and rubbing elbows with potential whack jobs... seems lower.
Drive-throughs are also perceived to be a safer way to grab a cheap meal or coffee and crescent roll. criminals don’t know if the customer might be armed or not... and in Texas, Arizona and about 30 other states they likely will be.
That is why on a subconscious level, this safety and speed method of service has become the preferred delivery scheme for products and services. no lobby for me please at waffle house, mcdonalds, in’n out or KFC...
Drive through just seems like less of a sitting duck situation where each patron is armed minimally, with a running vehicle... and nutjobs caught on camera, will be seen less as sympathetic victims... when a threatened paying client runs them over in a panic... why engage fight OR flight... when in the drive through you can do both?!! :-)
rule of thumb... meals on the menu for less than 40 bucks... go to a local drive through and order the healthiest item you can... park in the good spot hear by with high visibility-360 degrees... and keep the air conditioning on and the engine running. IMHO that is why folks prefer mobile pickup as a schema for safer operations.
GMTA. I’m a Leo Getz type. I don’t like what happens to you when you go thru the drive thru.
We live in a world where two clicks of the mouse button is one click too many. We make stores deliver to the curb, We want GPS to think for us, We even want cars to drive for us. We want smart homes so we don’t have to flip a light switch...
There is a huge list.
Pure laziness is rampant and obvious.
I went into a nearby town’s Taco Bell. I had to use their touch screen system to order my food.
Then I waited... and waited...
Finally I asked, what’s the holdup, dudes?
They said they had to make all the drive up and door dash orders first.
I asked them to stop my order and give me my money back.
My bag got filled and was then processed immediately.
I won’t make the mistake of going inside again.
watch what on OnlyFans at home?
I don’t see much difference if someone hands you a bag at the window or brings it out from a back room and puts it on a “clean” table.
Next time you see those three cars in line, remember what that third car looks like. I’d be willing to wager that, while you’re waiting for your order inside, you’ll see that car getting their order and driving away.
Like it or not, most fast food places are geared for drive through service.
since 41?
I quit using drive throughs because I cannot understand what the person is saying. It’s like listening to Charlie Brown’s teacher.
I have observed that women are clueless about situational awareness. I'll say let's go this way and she asks why.
When I was in fastfood 2/3 of the business was drive-thru.
I was in a single lane drive through at a Micky D’s in New Orleans. A yute walked up to the car in front of me and aimed a handgun (sideways) at the driver. The driver produced a large frame revolver. No shots were fired, but later I though about it and realized that I was trapped between cars in front and behind me. Never made that mistake again.
Love that. 😂
Saw a recent report where people are avoiding calling places where they have to talk to a live person, preferring to only call places with automated call responses.
****************************************************
I threw contracts to vendors where a live person answered the phone instead of a computer.
All it takes is one walk through an automated system to fix a problem to make up the difference.
