Nearly half of Americans insist on drive-thrus: survey

Nearly half of Americans opine in a recent survey that they would avoid a store — any store, apparently — that doesn’t have a drive-thru.

The finding comes from Dutch Bros, a beloved drive-thru coffee chain based in Oregon. The Bros commissioned a random survey of 2,000 Americans in July by the market researcher OnePoll.

Americans love a drive-thru, and the pandemic seems to have sweetened their taste for takeout. Much of the nation migrated to pickup and delivery in the peak months of COVID-19, and surveys suggest the preference endures.

The Dutch Bros poll found that customers favor the drive-thru experience to in-store shopping by a two-to-one margin, to the extent that they have a preference.

This nation has become too lazy to walk.

Funny to me that people will accept something handed to them through a window from a stranger and then proceed to eat it without a care as to what it may actually contain. I hate drive-throughs.

Drive through for fast food? Sure. Banking? Maybe. Physician, I’ll pass on that. Groceries? No, I prefer to pick my own.

People have serious anxiety issues and avoid people. They don’t like to go into stores. That’s why grocery delivery, Uber eats, etc. are growing. A whole generation that was traumatized by the Covid lockdowns.

The only time I walk into a Mickey D’s is if I need to use the loo.

weird, if I see more than 3 cars in front of me, I park and walk in. Its faster. I don’t know why these people like to sit in their cars waiting.

This poll was conducted by a drive-thru business.

Saw a recent report where people are avoiding calling places where they have to talk to a live person, preferring to only call places with automated call responses.

Live at home, work at home, shop online at home, watch OnlyFans at home…
Can’t even enter a store or cook your own food.

This will produce wonderful social retards…

Most of the fast-food places in my area still haven’t opened up their dining areas. They operate strictly as drive throughs.

A easier to avoid involuntary interaction with less reasonable fellow citizens if you stay in your car.

So do I unless I am traveling. Even then, if I'm not behind schedule, I'd rather sit down and eat like a civilized person and wash up before and after I'm done eating.

Of course, I sympathize with drive-thru culture a lot more if it is in a neighborhood full of urban ferals. Or if you have young children in the backseat where you have to spend a lot of time getting them out of those children's seats!

Part of the success of Amazon and Walmart shop and delivery in addition to ease of use and inventory, is that you generally don’t have to deal with people.

Honestly, if supposedly 80 million people voted for Biden, we can extrapolate that have the country are total idiots, why put yourself in a position to deal with people when the odds are you’ll be dealing with a total idiot?
