Japan to Hit Record Defense Spending: $53 Billion Sought for More Missiles, Ships

Japan’s defence ministry on Thursday announced it will seek a record $53 billion budget for the next fiscal year on the back of regional tensions driven by an increasingly assertive China and unpredictable North Korea.

The spending jump represents a 13 percent increase year-on-year, adding antimissile systems, more warships and boosting maintenance for a military that long skimped on basic functions.

Prime Minister Fumio Kishida last year unveiled a major security overhaul including a pledge to raise defence spending to two percent of GDP by 2027, Reuters reports.

This is good. Japan has one of the largest economies in the world and they should be paying for their own defense instead of receiving welfare from us. South Korea needs to do the same.

We’re broke and in extreme need to shift strategic manufacturing back to the U.S. instead of being reliant on other nations. Our national interests in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan are manufactured product based. We become more secure and economically prosperous by manufacturing the important things here. Over time we can drop the military protection with these countries. We can still be friends and we can still sell them weapons for their defense, but they can pay with their money. We can return our troops home so they can focus on the Constitutionally appropriate defense of America.

Japan and Taiwan should both build a credible nuclear deterrent. Both have the technical ability and fissile material for such. Hell, give them the design for the W88 warhead with 475 kilotons of yield. Even with a credible force they could not defeat China in a nuclear exchange. However, they could make the cost so dear to China they would not go to war.

It should be noted that China stole the design of the W88 in the 1980s. It is not a secret anymore.

ISAIAH 2:4 "And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore."

People better slow down and listen to the Bible before it's too late, the only reason to make more ships, guns, bombs, is to use them on other people.
