One Critical Part of the GOP Is ‘Terrified’ of Donald Trump
1945 ^ | 9/11/23 | John Rossomando

“I refuse to accept the proposition that Donald Trump is the ‘inevitable’ Republican nominee for President,” Eric Levine, a New York lawyer and Republican fund-raiser, wrote in an email to roughly 1,500 donors, politicians, and friends according to The New York Times. “His nomination would be a disaster for our party and our country.”

The donor class reflects the pre-Reagan liberalism of the Rockefeller Republicans who were socially liberal yet favored fiscal restraint and have little in common with the current base of the party. Trump’s ascendancy has also deprived them of a base, as millions of liberal-leaning Republicans, particularly in suburban counties, have realigned and become Democrats.

They were used to ruling the roost, since no candidate could get ahead without THEIR money, or THEIR money could be used to destroy a candidate (see 2012 ads in Florida against Gingrich).

But along comes a billionaire with his own plane, and MILLIONS of supporters their small-dollar donations.

Their funding hegemony was broken.

And thus we don't have to have a Rockefeller Republican as our nominee, and the Rockefeller Republicans became the Democrats they always were.

Rockefeller Republicans who were socially liberal

They supported abortion because many of them benefited from doing away with pre-born illegitimate kids.

“Fiscal conservatives” tend not to be conservative in any way. They’re socially liberal and they’re also the ones who cooperate with Democrats on spending.

MAGA believes in government of, by and for the citizens.

The dinosaur GOP believes in government of, by and for the ruling class.

Country club Republicans are worse than limousine liberals. They actively sabotage populist Republicans. We MAGA must abandon the RINOs. They do it to us every time.

As millions of liberal-leaning Republicans, particularly in suburban counties, have realigned and become Democrats.

So his numbers lie even CNN proved otherwise.

Oh, I think they are, because Trump wants to disrupt how they make their money. It involves corrupt Uni-party Democrats & RINOs with whom they are in bed with.

It's economic fear, but it's real & it runs deep.

I just can’t abide this stupid “Donald Trump will lead us to armageddon” slogan from the GOP-LITE

Trump was already President for 4 years. During that time his words were unconventional, but his acts were standard, mainstream, milquetoast Republican (or what used to be) - control the border, lower taxes, praise American exceptionalism, end Roe v. Wade, appoint “conservative” judges, increase energy independence, avoid as much as possible unnecessary foreign entanglements, etc...

There’s absolutely NOTHING radical about Trump’s policies or actions.

From the article:
Trump’s ascendancy has also deprived them of a base, as millions of liberal-leaning Republicans, particularly in suburban counties, have realigned and become Democrats.

A word salad designed to blame Trump for something.

From cotton1706
...and the Rockefeller Republicans became the Democrats they always were.

Bingo! That is the bottom line

Rockefeller Republicans who were socially liberal yet favored fiscal restraint ....

One of the biggest problems with these types is that they don’t favor fiscal restraint. They favor crony capitalism. They favor backroom deals so they can enrich themselves. They favor having folks in the inside letting them know what’s going on so they can take advantage of situations.

A friend once told me that if I wanted to make real money in the real estate market, without ever having to pick up a hammer, I would have to become friends with someone in the zoning office. They’re the ones that get eyes on all the proposals for the big developments or areas that the municipality wants to pump money into and gentrify.

Find a couple of cheap properties, let the folks continue to stay there, even rent free. And then wait for the developer to show up and offer twice or more what they paid for it.

Only folks that are “in the know” can get those deals. And the money comes easy to them because the folks funding those loans know what’s coming and are in on it, too.

It's the 0.01% that has been making life unnecessarily painful for the other 99.99% for the last 35 years.

They see an extinction-level event if Trump is reelected.

“Terrified” is a stretch. It’s click-bait and shows a lack of journalistic standards.

Conservatives who have been visited by the FBI have been terrified. What is domestic shock and awe but an effort to terrorize? I think the IRS may be next to terrorize good American citizens.

Years ago, it became apparent to me that liberals increased government spending and “fiscal conservatives” followed along to raise taxes. Something here makes me think of sharks and remora fish.
