Shhhh. The lawfare specialist Dem lawyers will hear you.
Several considerations at work here. Sheriffs department isn’t just in Albuquerque, but the unincorporated areas of Bernalillo County, many of which are quite rural. Yhe Chillili Land Grant is included, and they’ve been a law of their own since about 1620.
Also, NM got rid of Qualified Immunity for police a few years back, so individual officers are on the hook if they attempt to enforce this unconstitutional edict.
I doubt the NMSP is thrilled about being turned into the Wicked Witch f Santa Fe’s Flying Monkeys. My guess it that they will not be proactive about this idiocy in the slightest.
That’s fine, the Sheriff’s jurisdiction is in the County.
What about the ABQ Police Chief, and the rank-and-file?
What about other State agencies with armed enforcement officers?
Arrest her!
Lock her up!
Throw away the key!
The APD Chief said they’re not going to enforce, which sort of surprised me since he’s such a Democrat toady. APD has serious morale and recruiting problems, plus it’s understaffed. There’s no upside to adding this to their duties.
Saw on TV last night local prosecutor wont enforce it either.
Ban? Seems more like Rat pipe dream.
Virtue signaling. Or, in this case, idiocy signaling.
I’m totally in agreement with the governor’s suspension of 2A Rights, I believe that the protection force for the governor and the state government should put their firearms away too.Isn’t that reasonable?
She should have already been impeached over the weekend.
ABQ is in a county.
Not sure how it is in NM but in Illinois, the Sheriff is the top law enforcement officer in the whole county.
If it’s the same in NM, the Sheriff refusing to enforce a law would pretty much tell the assorted police Chiefs how the Sheriff wants it played.
The APD Chief is a political appointee and creature of the progressive Mayor. But both the Mayor and Chief are chicken when it comes to dealing with difficult problems, and I am sure scared of pissing off the citizenry more than they have already.
Empty gesture since only state police can enforce it.
How long will it take to get this into a federal court? Seems like actions against pro-life laws, against border EOs take minutes. This is now three days since first lawsuit filed, four days since the unconstitutional action was taken.
It’s more like virtue-sniveling
