Make sure he feels affirmed in his identity by swiftly offering to schedule the soonest available appointment with your friendly neighborhood pediatric surgeon. After all, how does the small cost of eye and hand removal surgeries compare to a lifetime of happiness living as his authentic identity? It's really a big fat nothingburger, so don't make it into a big deal! Most of all, be sure to ignore any haters who try to make you second guess your child's identity by talking about how piracy is "trending," or even worse, "contagious," like some sort of illness. Rest assured, social context has nothing to do with your kid's innermost sense that he needs a hook-hand! Child psychiatrists agree: he surely discovered this from a deep well of Truth within his precious wise old soul.

This woman must be out of her mind. Does she not know that she may have inspired the next round of insanity. She may think she’s funny. But do not put anything past these lunatics who are running out educational system.
My son came out as a lion when he was about 4 or 5 years old. He went around the house roaring for a few days. My granddaughters each had mermaid tails for a while. Like most kids, these were all passing fads.
My sister and I had a game where we ‘identified’ (actually, that word works for children’s games) as Venusian. I just looked that word up. We were from the planet Venus.
Kids identifying as meth addicts... what’s a few missing teeth, rotting skin, and paranoia compared to the happiness of the Comer-outer? Parents should support and supply.
A pirate with an eye patch, a peg leg, and a hook walks into a bar.
The bartender notices him, and decides to ask about his injuries.
“So...” he starts off, “How’d you get that peg leg?”
“A shark bit off me leg.”
“And the hook?”
“An enemy pirate cut off me hand.”
The bartender gasps, fascinated by the pirate’s stories.
“What about the eyepatch?”
“A seagull pooped in me eye.”
“A seagull caused that? How?” The bartender questioned.
“Well, ‘twas me first day with the hook...”
There was a time I identified as Santa Claus, but now that I look back, I’m glad I wasn’t forced to move to the North Pole.
