House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) pushed back on a line of questioning Wednesday by CNN reporter Manu Raju about the pending House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry of President Biden.
After Raju pointed out to McCarthy that less than two weeks ago he acknowledged he did not have the votes in his caucus on impeachment, the Speaker shot back at the reporter.
“You know what’s interesting to me, you’re a reporter for CNN, right? I just laid out to you a lot of allegations based upon the American public,” McCarthy said during the exchange.
“I’m asking you about your words, why did you change your words,” Raju responded.

McCarthy is only doing just what he must to keep Matt Gaetz from calling for his removal from the speakership.

Can’t let a handful of squishy RINOs block legitimate investigation of a massive national security issue. The problem is, subpoenas will be ignored, as will referrals to DOJ for contempt. Will the investigations have the teeth to gather the evidence needed? Will enough people come forward and cooperate/comply?
I wonder if the squishy RINOs are the usual suspects?

Why — why! — are Republicans “sparring” with reporters? You mean the same reporters that ask Biden about his flavor of ice cream? You mean the same reporters who meekly yet willingly comply when Biden’s handlers shut down reporters?

Subpoenas have been ignored since Obama administration. The last three administrations have been negligent with regard to obeying subpoenas.

If I were McCarthy, I would have turned to the guy and said: “Wait, weren’t you just reporting not more than a year ago that the laptop was Russian misinformation?”
“The problem is, subpoenas will be ignored, as will referrals to DOJ for contempt.”
If they refer someone to the DOJ for contempt, it’s just a sign the RINOs do not really want compliance.
If they wanted compliance, they would order the Sergeant-at-Arms to arrest the person for contempt and then hold them in custody until they agree to comply.
