Well said. Today’s Democrats are radical socialists. They are playing hardball. And they are playing for keeps.

On the other hand, Republicans sit around and debate the wording of a statement they might release. Or might not release. Mustn’t be too hasty or too harsh.

It’s easy to see which side will ultimately prevail.

The only way to know for sure if it’s a win or lose type situation is to look at history. Have republicans gained seats after a shutdown? That’s all that matters.

Yup, just keep spending without bound. Not a problem.

All the house has to do is pass a budget and send it to the senate. Once a budget is passed, have a press conference saying we did out job. Now it’s up to the senators and eventually the president.

I actually thought of Karl a few days ago. Wondered if he was still doing a political gig? Must be getting lonely over at FOX with all the commentators just talking to each other.

I don’t like Rove. But, he’s probably right here.

I wouldn't send a budget. I'll sign a continuing resolution to fund the government every three months. That's it.

I won't sign a budget until we address the deficits. But in the meantime, we keep the government running until the next election.

What was it that made the post, “Rove, you magnificent bastard!”, an obligatory Freeper response to everything Rove did and said twenty years ago?

Somehow every government shutdown, no matter how big or small, major or minor, is framed as being bad for Republicans.

Deficit spending is 100x higher than in 1996 when Newt shut down the gov and it was claimed as a disaster in the next election
(it wasn’t, Bob Dole didn’t campaign well at all and Ross Perot spoiled the ballot in multiple states).

It was somehow Republicans who were to blame in 2018 when dems shut down the government for over a month because they refused 5B (what is now practically a rounding error in the federal budget) to fund the border wall.

Burn it all down. If the GOP can’t explain why spending more than a trillion dollars a year over what the government takes in, they deserve to lose every election.

“Ah, but Fedzilla NEVER shuts down, does it...”

A lot depends on how certain departments and agencies have been funded. If they already have money to continue operations, they continue operations (employees generally do not get paid until Office of Personnel Management reopens).

Where it gets tight is in departments like defense where almost every civilian worker has to be sent home. This means no repairs get done at any depots, no defense contracts or task orders get awarded, movement of supplies for troops in the field grinds to a halt and spare parts become unavailable. If a shutdown drags on, troop readiness goes south pretty quick especially in mechanized and aviation areas.

Princess McCain is on ABC. She supports the war in Ukraine while saying it is preventing her organization from feeding the world. ,,, And she is supporting Bidenomics.

She is economically ignorant to realize that Bidenomics and specifically the war on oil cause the war. We need to improve economic literacy.
