Veteran Republican strategist Karl Rove warned House Republicans that they will only hurt themselves if they allow the government to shut down this fall amid budget battles within their conference and with the Senate and White House.
“Republicans are going to shoot themselves in the foot in the run-up to the 2024 election if they continue to think that shutdowns are a great way to put themselves in front of the American people,” Rove said in a Fox News interview on Sunday.

Karl Rove is the Jim Cramer of politics. Whatever Carl says believe the opposite. Rove is a dirty dog that seeks to destroy all that is good and right and righteous and we need to recognize it. And to that point Fox News is in the same boat

What the hell difference does it make. If you’re given authority and you don’t use, it’s the same as if you lost the election. The GOP was given the authority to govern from the Representative side of the house and they should use EVERY ounce of effort to resist the democrats drive to ruin. If that means shutting down the government then shut it the @#%! down. If they’re not willing to use the authority given by the voters then why bother voting for them to begin with. Fight like a democrat and maybe you’ll get something done. Strategize like rove and the democrats will celebrate your mediocrity.
It’s like voting for who’s going to join the washington generals so they can be humiliated by the globe trotting democrats. The allegory gains clarity every year.
I vote for a very long shutdown.
For Karl Rove, there is never a good time to take a stand and fight.
And, I have to assume that the Republicans will cave this time also as they always have. That is why we are drowning in debt and the dollar is being destroyed.

Republican leadership will try to look strong. That will rally the Left. As soon as pressure builds, Republican leadership will collapse like wet cardboard. Result will be strengthening Democrat opposition and pissing off conservative voter support. Typical Republican lose-lose move.
Don’t get me wrong. I support major efforts to rein in government over reach and spending. Expecting our current Republican leadership to accomplish anything positive is wishful thinking.
Wish I had a solution. Doesn’t appear to be one presently.
