U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Republicans will try again to move forward on fiscal 2024 spending legislation on Thursday, with a procedural vote on a defense appropriations bill.

After a 2-1/2 hour closed-door meeting with members of his Republican majority, the California Republican also said lawmakers were "very close" to agreement on a short-term stopgap measure to avert a government shutdown on Sept. 30.

On Tuesday, opposition from five Republicans defeated a vote intended to open debate on a $886 billion defense spending bill.

Those five Republicans were hardliners who wanted assurances that fiscal 2024 appropriations will not exceed a 2022 top line of $1.47 trillion - $120 billion less than McCarthy and Biden agreed to in May.

McCarthy said on Wednesday he had been able to persuade two of the five to change their positions.

Notice how many times we hear McCarthy and Biden have agreed to something behind everyone’s back. Also notice that McCarthy’s agreements with Republicans are never kept. McCarthy will try his best to keep agreements with Biden, but he won’t keep them with conservative Republicans. Also note the pussy conservatives that let McCarthy break his word. It’s just theater.

McCarthy’s became Speaker based on a deal to do appropriations using regular (normal) order. That means there is no continuing resolution or omnibus. It means all appropriations bills are totaled prior to any one bill is brought to the floor. It’s a simple idea. You know the total spend and you can balance the total spend between all the appropriations bills.

McCarthy lies and is not a man of his word. Call your congressman and demand a vote to vacate the chair. Demand no CR. Demand no omnibus. Demand spending to be cut. Tell your congressman to shut down the government until appropriations are done correctly. Anything short of that is voting for a continuation of the Pelosi-Biden budget from last year that includes $2 trillion budget deficits and every Marxist program the Democrats want.

If it has even one dollar for Ukraine, it is likely still not worth voting for.

So he makes an agreement with Biden and tries to Ram it in the house instead of the other way around. Of course you’re going to lose.

If what you say is true, “You anti-McCarthy folks aren’t too bright. Between the Senate and Biden’s pen, we are at the Dem’s mercy....and that’s the way it is,” THEN your path forward is SURRENDER.

YEP, according to you, I’m as bright as a burned out light bulb. At least I want the GOP to fight. McCarthy is a CA Nancy Boy. I say dump his sorry ass now. Replace him with anybody ABOVE Room Temperature.

Remember - DEMS NEVER SHOW MERCY!!!!

Correct. Defense spending needs to be cut. There are huge amounts of waste in the defense budget that has zero to do with defending America. We have over 300 bases around the world, most of which have nothing to do with our national interests or the defense of America. They are based on the biggest lie every perpetuated to build the weakest military per dollar spent. That lie is we need to fight “them” there so we don’t have to fight “them” here. Okay General Westmoreland, exactly how did that work out for us?

The lie of fighting them there has now evolved into an even worse lie. We have to go to war so we can avoid war. The Bushies did that in how many countries? It’s the same argument that is being foisted for a war with Russia. And yes, just like Vietnam, which we lost, we have troops on the ground when we are told we don’t have troops on the ground. That’s all in the effort to fight them there so we don’t fight them here, when we have no legitimate reason to fight at all.

We have hundreds of woke generals, including 47 four stars, most of which have nothing to do with defending America, each of which spends money on their own pet projects and are not coordinated with anything else in the military. It’s woke upon woke. It’s climate crap. It’s pet weapons projects that fail. It’s faggots, pride parades, drag queens, and gender denying freaks. It’s women in combat and accommodating their abortions. It’s everything but being the best at killing and breaking things.

Do you realize that at the height of WW II, we had 11+ million armed troops and only 7 four stars? We won that war. How many wars have we won since? We now have 47 four stars and hundreds of other generals that don’t do anything else other than make us weak. The politics of this crap goes all the way down to BCs that couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag. You know it. I know it. And the American families that have sent generation after generation of sons to defend America know it. That’s why there are all time lows in retention and recruiting.

I am extremely pro-military, strong on national defense and committed to excellence, high standards and winning. My family has a military history dating back to the French and Indian War. My son-in-law currently serves in 82nd Airborne. He’s my daughter’s husband and grandson’s father. As a family we are willing to sacrifice for our country, but that doesn’t include being hideously stupid and wasteful about it. I write these things to make the point that being pro-military isn’t just about spending money. It’s about being prepared and strong. Our military is neither. I don’t want my family to make the ultimate sacrifice because of stupidity and greed. I don’t want anyone’s family to do that.

I truly believe in peace through strength. Endless wars where we have no legitimate interest or dispute is not peace and it makes us weak. Our real adversaries know that we are weak and that changes the dynamic in all diplomacy. Everything we do now is from a position of weakness. We can thanks mindless neocons and the MIC whose only real goal is profit.

The time to fix our military is now. It only gets more difficult tomorrow.

Our nation has been and is being successfully invaded on the former southern border. NONE of this sham defense bill will stop that. It is a disgrace that enriches GOP scum.
