These Are the Republicans Who Could Be The Next Speaker of the House
Katie Couric Media ^ | October 4, 2023 | Tess Bonn

Posted on 10/04/2023 4:43:27 PM PDT by Reno89519

House Republicans are rushing to elect a new speaker after GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy was dramatically ousted from his position on Tuesday in an unprecedented move. (For the record, he was the first speaker to ever be removed with a vote.)

...

Majority Leader Steve Scalise

As the new top-ranking House Republican, Steve Scalise is the most obvious choice to replace McCarthy, and he has already officially thrown his hat into the ring.

...

Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan

Jim Jordan was one of the House Republicans who defended McCarthy both ahead of and during the vote that ultimately ousted him. But now, Jordan’s hoping to be considered for the position.

...

Oklahoma Rep. Kevin Hern

Kevin Hern was initially nominated for the speakership in January by far-right GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert, who praised him as a “true consensus candidate.”

...

Florida Rep. Byron Donalds

GOP Rep. Andy Harris said on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that he would like to see Rep. Byron Donalds as Speaker.

Okay, I laughed at the site, but Tess Bonn, offered a decent summary for the four that are or may be vying for speaker. Jordon may be like by some, but I seem him weakest for his ties to McCarthy and his lack of results as chairman. All talk, no action. We need better.

We need better.

.. who can win a House vote. Name that person. Not who you would want, but who would win a vote with the House GOP.

Matt Gaetz led the revolution. He managed to persuade the entire Demonrat caucus to dump their own RINO sympathizer who delivered on their agenda and not Conservatives’. That is sheer brilliance. When I saw Newtie ripping into him, I knew this guy was solid gold.

I’m surprised that he wasn’t more prepared to win. Maybe he didn’t expect to.

If that is the one shared earlier, I think Byron Donalds as 100% and Scalise around 54% down around McCarthy numbers.

Being an independent, wouldn’t Kennedy be a good consideration?

The absolute arrogance of McCarthy posting “Bring it !” on Twitter/X, minutes before Gaetz brought it. Kevin was utterly clueless.

The Obstructionist Democrats must be made to pay for their move against the GOP Caucus and destruction of House Republican unity.

Media heads would explode if Donalds was made Speaker. It would completely destroy HA-Keem’s dream of being the first Black Speaker. That alone would be worth the price of admission.

What move? I really do not see anything here to blame Democrats for. They did not pick McCarthy, they did not recommend him, they did not defend him.

He’s no independent. He talks like one but he knows what happened to his relatives and he won’t sign his own death warrant.

He couldn’t even commit to either of his first two marriages. He got an annulment for the first one and arranged for the second one to end with her alleged suicide. Then he refused to have her buried with her family who wanted her. He claimed he wanted her in his Kennedy plot and then a few weeks later had her dug up and he put her on the other end of the cemetery far away from the sacred Kennedy area. He’s a s.o.b liar and probably worse.

“Matt Gaetz led the revolution... When I saw Newtie ripping into him, I knew this guy was solid gold.”

I did not hear Newt today, but I did a little of Levin, and I am profoundly distrubed at what he said.

About the first thirty minutes, he went over the fall of Jerusalem, when the Romans slaughtered the entire Jewish nation, but I did not catch all of it, and before I knew what was going on, he segued into Gaetz, claiming that Geatz related to the Roman empire and their destruction of Jerusalem, or something. He transferred his vicious imagery of Rome slaughtering Jews onto Geatz.

I almost got sick to my stomach, at the derangement of what I thought was a great commentator. That was the most unhinged, diabolical diatribe against a political leader I have ever heard. He does not hit Biden, who is destroying the nation, in such a hysterical fashion.

He says Gaetz colluded with the Marxists democrats, who are the Romans. Well, McCarthy did that everyday, but Levin saved his snakish hiss for Gaetz only.

There are any number of Kennedys in government.

I thought that him going independent was somehow an indication that he was not so much entrenched in leftist dogma.

I am not very politically savvy.
Neither am I an American.
But it almost seems that The Speaker should be an independent.

That would negate the idea of an election. The winning caucus has the mandate to implement their agenda and the speaker is supposed to make that happen.
