The Israel Defense Forces says it is carrying out artillery strikes in Lebanon after a number of mortar shells were fired toward Israeli territory.
The projectiles landed in the contested Mount Dov region on the Lebanon border. There are no reports of injuries or damage.
“The IDF has been taking preparational measures for this type of possibility and will continue to operate in all regions and at any time necessary to ensure the safety of the Israeli civilians,” the military says in a statement.

Oh yeah Putin is managing this. It is a brilliant move on his part. He is spreading the battle field. Serbia and Kosovo ramping up. The fighting in Africa and now this.
He is trying to force an end game in Ukraine by waging a death of a thousand cuts against the West. I wonder when China is going to jump in to help him by starting some confrontation in the Pacific or over Taiwan. I would not be surprised if Russia is paying their patsy in South and Central America to send their excess population north as illegals
Putin has the perfect set up. A critically weakened US under the most corrupt incompetent regime in US history. He can make any play short of open war with Nato and win.
Except that the Russians are corrupt. And he killed Yevgeny Prigozhin, who was the most effective commander on the battlefield in Ukraine.
I’m trying to remember what it is when you do the same thing but expect a different outcome…..

IMO he is getting milked by the enablers. The ruble was strong post invasion. It clearly looked like he had the sanctions beat and was prospering with $75/bbl oil. Eventually the bills come due. Plus, news said India is paying him fifty cents on the dollar nor letting him take the cash out of the country.
I have no doubt he is aiding Iran but do doubt the extent of it.

In it he talks about how important it is to keep a dialogue with other nations - especially your enemies. He spoke with Brezhnev often privately.
Nixon tells the story of one of the wars in Israel and our troops were on alert. Brezhnev told Nixon that he was going to move a bunch of troops into some large valley outside Israel, and that would force Nixon to do the same - move our troops into the area.
