California Gov. Gavin Newsom Signs Law Requiring Big Businesses to Disclose Emissions

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Large businesses in California will have to disclose a wide range of planet-warming emissions under a new law Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Saturday — the most sweeping mandate of its kind in the nation.

The law requires more than 5,300 companies that operate in California and make more than $1 billion in annual revenues to report both their direct and indirect emissions. That includes things like emissions from operating a building or store as well as those from activities like employee business travel and transporting their products.

The law, SB 253, will bring more transparency to the public about how big businesses contribute to climate change, and it could nudge them to evaluate how they can reduce their emissions, advocates say. They argue many businesses already disclose some of their emissions to the state.

Does the State government have to do this too?

The EPA emission regulations are enforced by the states. I don’t know but suspect that the corporations in question may already know and under state reporting laws already report the emissions.

One can only wonder if the current effort makes emission reporting for Google mandatory. Google is probably presently exempt under long standing precedent that it makes no product and thus has no emissions.

Businesses will relocate out of California.

Employees will be laid off.

Taxes from those businesses will dry up.

Yep. And our Public Utilities Commission is about to approve utility rate programs that allow providers to set rates based upon household income— the more you make, the more you will pay. Un-flippin’ believable.

Maybe report on their other worldly emissions too? There is an etherial world, of what we call ghostly emissions. The carbon emissions have just as much effect as those on the REAL WORLD.

Isn’t it about time we laugh at these idiots? Not get angry, but just laugh out loud AT them. What they say is not serious at all.

I had a BIL who told me that running a car on the streets, was a dangerous as running it in the garage. The pollution was the same, it will kill us all or it will kill whomever is sitting in the closed garage.

I busted out laughing at this guy, who was a certified genius. He was a chessmaster, played in the World cup of soccer, guarded Pele’. A guy who machined and designed parts for the Apollo missions. He believed to his core what he said. Though he was a functional moron, a machinist, a draftsman, a stonemason, a carpenter, an architect and more. Jobs that he got paid for in life by people who vetted him.
He was as stupid as a box of rocks about reality.

THAT is who is running the world, people like him. These are the people who run the world. Until his dying day, he believed OJ didn’t do it, hated communism because he grew up under it in Yugoslavia, but loved Obama, Clinton and the rest.
