The front door of an apartment building in Berlin was marked with the Star of David this week amid increasing tension across Europe in the wake of the Hamas terror attacks on Israel.
Harkening back to the dark days of the 1930s when the Nazis would brand Jewish businesses with the Star of David, a young woman of Jewish heritage was horrified to find that her home in the Prenzlauer Berg area of the German capitol had been branded with the same symbol this week.

I doubt it was a German that did this.
My first thought as well. It’s too historically reminiscent for something that actual graffiti vandals would do. “I know, let’s go paint a Star of David on a door like they did in the 1930’s. I learned it in history class.”
If it indeed it wasn’t a hoax, then yes, it most likely was not a Volksdeutsche that did it.

I’m just trying to understand why there are still Jewish homes in Germany. Not the place I would choose to live if I were Jewish.

To someone, it’s a legitimate statement.
A number of Jews from the former Soviet Union have settled in Germany. We have to know that the discrimination of the Nazi years is over. Clearly these Jews do not feel in any danger in Germany today.
