Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis visit Davenport

Just a day after Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced her endorsement for GOP candidate Ron DeSantis, the two stopped at a Davenport restaurant to meet with voters. Over 200 people attended the campaign event at the Machine Shed restaurant Tuesday morning.

Senior advisers for DeSantis are outlining a difficult path to the Republican presidential nomination that can succeed only by first denying former President Donald Trump "a big win" in Iowa,

The memo, distributed late Monday to the campaign's national donor network and to another group of uncommitted billionaires known as the American Opportunity Alliance, argues that other Republican candidates, including former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley, are at best spoilers.

It’s important to recognize that DeSantis and Reynolds did not make this decision.

That large shallow lake of the Swamp known as campaign staffers, professional, made the decision.

It’s all about their paychecks. Total persuasion that the only way to “do politics” is with big money totals that go to campaign staff, and if you ever dig even just a little bit deep, you’ll find the “internal pollsters” are friends or relatives of the campaign manager. Pollsters get enormous paychecks because, of course, there is no regulated output.

They can do almost nothing and get paid. The campaign manager has to actually have people make some hotel reservations and be sure vehicles are fueled up to earn his $800,000 paycheck.

Why didn’t they show the bustling crowd of 200? That’s rhetorical.

Nikki will tear him apart in the debate because he’s too focused on destroying Trump. Keep thise too bickering, it’s good. Trump has to focus on GOTV for the next 2 months.

Kim Reynolds is the Governor of Iowa. Kim Reynolds is also the Republican Governor whose job it is to elect Republican Governors. Why did Kim Reynolds fail to elect a Republican Governor in Kentucky. I don’t recall Gov. Reynolds campaigning for Mr. Cameron, the Republican candidate. Also absent was Ron DeSantis, Nicki Haley, or other Republican candidates for President. Amazingly, the former N.J. Governor Chris Christie did not visibly campaign for Republican Senator, Ed Durr. Perhaps these politicians are too self absorbed?

I see he’s given up wearing outfits with his name on them, so people will know who is. It’s about time, because nobody really cares who he is.

Is anyone here aware we lost big yesterday on all issues having to do with abortion? Nikki Haley threaded the needle on abortion and she’s scoffed at-we’re losers as a result. I don’t like her but she’s got something right. Trump’s saying the same thing navigation-wise. DeSantis isn’t paying a price for his 6 week ban but it doesn’t help he’s blaming Trump.

So where’s our unity? Wake me when we win again.

We’re gonna need Reynolds. Think Grassley.

Also, DeSantis criticized Matt Gaetz's attempt to remove McCarthy as Speaker. He said Gaetz's actions were "theatrics" and "performance-driven." I searched for anything Reynolds had said in regards to the attempts to remove McCarthy, or even the election of Mike Johnson to replace him, yet she chose to endorse a moron who attacked the attempts to help bring change to the stagnant Republican-run House of Representatvies. Trump should be very grateful that this fool didn't endorse him.

"We’re gonna need Reynolds. Think Grassley."

Yeah, let's accept evil, because evil always does the right thing in the end, right? If she endorsed Rhonda Santis, what makes you think she'd bother to replace Grassley with anybody worthwhile? Nothing is guaranteed, and she's already showed she has no problem screwing the majority of the voters supporting President Trump. She stepped into the office of Governor in May 2017, when the then Governor stepped down to accept Trump's appointment as Ambassador to China. Her first election for Governor was in 2018. She ran for re-election in 2022. There are no term limits for the Governor of Iowa. It will be interesting to see how she fares after her political stupidity, if she decides to run again in 2026.

"Gaetz hopefully will succeed DeSantis as governor in 2027."

It seems he'd be able to get more done in Congress. I have no clue if Matt has any desire to be Governor, or to springboard from that to running for President. Whatever he decides, I wish him well.

200.. 50 of which were journalists, 30 were diners at the restaurant, 10 were wait and kitchen staff, 20 were people from next door stopping by to see why there were so many journalists, five were the homeless guys out back... Eventually you get there.

You're missing (actually exposing) the strategy.

If she was successful at getting Republican Governors elected how could she blame Trump for the losses?
