Would they be OK renaming everything involving Magellan to “Lapu lapu”?

Megellan was mostly a sea captain and explorer. He left Brazil with a few local women in tow or otherwise some of his crew was going to stay to enjoy the women of Brazil. He then sailed around the Cape and died of his own arrogance in Cebu Philippines. Hard to say he was a colonizer. Although the Port after him were.

Magellan before he was a sea captain helped the Port establish some footholds. After taking a leave without permission, Magellan fell out of favour. Serving in Morocco, he was wounded, resulting in a permanent limp. He was accused of trading illegally with the Moors. The accusations were proven false, but he received no further offers of employment after 15 May 1514.
In 1511, under the new governor Afonso de Albuquerque, Magellan and Serrão participated in the conquest of Malacca. After the conquest their ways parted: Magellan was promoted, with a rich plunder. In the company of a Malay he had indentured and baptized, Enrique of Malacca, he returned to Portugal in 1512 or 1513.[24] Serrão departed in the first expedition sent to find the “Spice Islands” in the Moluccas, where he remained. He married a woman from Amboina and became a military advisor to the Sultan of Ternate, Bayan Sirrullah. His letters to Magellan later proved decisive, giving information about the spice-producing territories.[25][26]

I highly recommend this book which is sourced to the chronicler Magellan took with him. Over The Edge of the World

Wouldn't they be better named after some LGBTQ+ or indigenous people?

Good Lord these people have psychosis.

Academic institutions should be renamed as mental institutions.

The scary truth is, that would be a very appropriate description.

Anytime I see these Morons trying to re-write or destroy history I have only one question:

What about the Democrat Party?
The Party of Slavery
The Party of Jim Crow
The Party of Segregation

You faux outrage over petty BS screams Hypocrisy in the face of your silence about the Democrat Party.

I’ll bet it wouldn’t take much research to find some historical figures named de los Reyes who did some things that wouldn’t be acceptable by 21st-century woke standards.

What about the name her country Philippines. They have some skeletons in their history. Would she agree to re-name her home country?

Yeah, the Philippines were named after Philip II of Spain. Talk about your colonial oppressor.
