I'm originally from the United States, but I've lived in Germany for over 11 years.
Moving to Germany was not necessarily an extreme culture shock, but many things have surprised me — especially when it comes to raising my three kids, who have all been born here.

That said, It isn't uncommon to live in another culture and see things where your own culture loses in the comparison.
I lived in Japan and the Philippines, and there were things I liked about both of them, but in the end...I still felt it was better, far better to be an American.

Exactly, it’s just another puff piece written by a socialist crybaby who thinks they are special and entitled.
That’s because they are insufferable arrogant spoiled brats.
During early covid I posted some articles that shared people’s experiences dealing with that. Which I thought were important/good to know.
Of course you can guess that I soon became the target of the most hateful anti-vaccine people on the planet.
Be that as it may, some asked me what I think people should do. So I answered they should speak to their doctor about it, which is what I did. I actually spoke to two doctors. My GP and diabetes 2 doctor.
The replies I got from the anti-vaccine people were incredible in how hateful they were against doctors. I bet there are witch doctors in the middle of the Congo jungle who have more respect for doctors.
Then it occurred to me those people don’t have doctors they can go to because they can’t afford it. When I want to go to the doctor, I descend in the elevator and slap my plastic insurance card that shows a picture of my smiling face on the front desk.

The Article paints Germany as some kind of Utopia. There is a German family here in America that left German because you can’t home school your kid over there. The terrible truth is the Left is trying to send them back .

We were born about the same time. I walked to kindergarten when I was five, and so did all of my classmates.

I was a "safety patrol officer" in the late 60's and I can still vividly recall gusty northwest winds drenching me and my partner Sarah with torrents of formerly roof-laden snow.

I spent a week in Germany years ago before the Wall came down. Had a fly-drive, traveled all over the country, no speed limits on the autobahn. Had a great time in. Berlin, took bus to East Berlin and it was a wreck. Munich was far too expensive for me, both the good hotels and the restaurants, only stayed one night. Had a wonderful time in Bavaria, though some people pointed at me as a Juden (long black hair then).
I have no idea whether this article is correct about costs. Isn’t it a somewhat socialist country? My friend’s daughter lives in Munich, married there and raising adorable little kids who are bi-lingual. I’ll ask him.
