DeSantis’ campaign and super PAC have spent more than $160 million to boost him, and he spent the better part of 2023 on the road.
“If I could have one thing change, I wish Trump hadn’t been indicted on any of this stuff,” he told the Christian Broadcasting Network last week. “It sucked out a lot of oxygen.”
“He tried to ‘out-Trump’ Trump among Trump supporters instead of going for the ‘maybe Trump/move on from Trump’ voters, and it was a fatal strategic choice,” Cullen said.
Polling shows that his numbers were strongest before he actively began campaigning for president in late May, and that the more voters saw of him, the less inclined they were to support him.
“The idea of ‘a’ DeSantis was appealing, but the reality of ‘the’ DeSantis was repellent,” said Mac Stipanovich,
“They think they’re the smartest people in the room. And they think Jesus is on their side,” the Tallahassee Republican said....I don’t know. But he’s just not likable.”

Since he was re-elected, I think I have spent more time in Florida as a tourist.
Ironically, I had a higher opinion of Jeb Bush when he was content to be the Florida governor. As a presidential candidate, he was total cringe as well.

Nice try, but his collapse started when he came out in support of the Neocon War in Ukraine, AFTER THAT it was quickly followed by his swipe linking Trump to Stormy Daniels.
Europe’s leaders are smart enough to at least try to sound palatable to their voting base, just to double-cross them after taking power (as the Bushes did to us), but DeSantis isn’t even up to that level.
Reminds me of Mayor Riorden of Los Angeles talking about how he was going to ‘reform’ the California Republican Party to remove its ‘extremist elements’, once he was elected governor. The problem wasn’t his plan, as he can do whatever he wants once elected, but rather that he promised this even BEFORE the Primary, and with that stroke of idiocy, he was toast.

Sounds like he is finally realizing what I told his promoters months ago. Trump is going to be the nominee, and it was extremely foolish to try to take that away from him. May have wrecked his chances for 2028.
