Major retailers have experienced a wave of store closures in 2023, an 80% surge from the year prior, Coresight Research reports.
The top reasons include bankruptcy of one major chain and some stores just not performing well in certain areas. The continued growth of online shopping is another factor, and other retailers said that theft is a major reason for their decision to close some stores, according to CBS News.
When Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy in April, it led to the closure of 866 stores, a Coresight report finds. The second largest number of closed stores was from Tuesday Morning, with 463 closures. U.S. retailers closed down more than 4,600 stores altogether in 2023.

Right.
Online shopping brought on by stupid business doings such as wokeness and canceling.
Mike Lindell gets my patronage exclusively by internet now to the extent that I even give his Christmas gift cards to all my liberal dimocrat relatives.
A win win for my pillow if used or not.
I say screw them and there ways they bring it on themselves.
They just steal it from porches now.
And from rail cars in californiocau
Egg Nog is the solution, year round and free, those with poor self control will soon be too fat to steal.
Humans have allowed government to price them out of the market.
Shame on us.
Never cared for BBB, but I did like Tuesday Morning.
Ha. Or McDonald’s vouchers.
It’s Macdonulds isn’t it?
I never order clothing on Amazon……….bot great for lots of other things.

BBB is trying online-only now. I doubt that it will work very well.
I used to like to occasionally shop at Bed, Bath and BeGone, but when they threw out Mike Lindell’s MyPillow I found it easy to not walk in there. Same for the Wokeness of Chik-fil-A - I haven’t set foot in their restaurants for almost 4 years now.
I’ll eat Popeye’s chicken and shoot, even the McDonald’s chicken sandwich long before I go to Chik-fil-A. Oh they have a good sandwich that I like but it’s pricey. That doesn’t help either. I’m not paying high prices ESPECIALLY to the Woke.
Some of this could be due to abuse of the covid measures now being looked into by the feds. Some stores and restaurants in my area packed up and went bye-bye as soon as that investigation started.
“Amazon says my first order was “Island of the Blue Dolphins” by Scott O’Dell on June 27, 2000. I’m surprised I waited until Amazon was six years old to place my first order”
Not many people had a home PC in 1994. That was probably part of the issue.
My wife worked at Apple in those years, so we always had computers at home.
Agreed. And much of that junk is pushed (paid?) to the top of the search results.
