“The economy is booming!! Bidenomics are gold!!”
It is rather hilarious that the media repeats that mantra almost every day in all the financial news sites. Anyone that deviates from the government’s position is deemed a ignorant rube who doesn’t understand how the economy works or else someone who is just bad at managing their finances.
I’ll say one thing about Amazon. They’ve got what you need.
Awhile back I was looking for a simple tie clip. Nothing fancy. And I like to buy local. So I went to a few local department stores. Spent half the day looking. No tie clips, except for one at a jewelry store at $50. Crazy.
Then I went to Amazon. Hundreds to choose from. I bought a nice one there for around $5.
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/21/store-openings-2021-10-retailers-that-are-opening-new-shops.html
U.S. retailers have announced 3,199 store openings and 2,548 closures year-to-date, according to a tracking by Coresight Research. For comparison, the firm recorded a whopping 8,953 closures, along with 3,298 openings last year,
Bed, Bath and Beyond lasted a lot longer than they should have.
They had no sales training program and were proud of it.
BB and B is still available online. I see the commercials all the time
Did they filter the closed stores by city they were in?
My guess is 80% were in lib run cities.
These stores who subsist off purchasers who had spendable excess income are disappearing because those ‘purchases with spendable excess income’ are disappearing.
“And it is so nice to shop from phone or computer.”
No kidding. Now and them I’m tempted to go find something I need locally. After driving around for two or three hours and visiting five or six stores, I ask myself “Why the hell am I doing this?”
Then I go home, order what I need on Amazon in a couple of minutes, and it’s at my door the next day or the day after that.
“They just steal it from porches now.”
On the bright side, at least they now have to invest some time and gasoline money to get to the porches. AND they don’t get to pick out the things they want to steal and fence. Plus, with any luck, they’ll encounter an armed homeowner who will capture them...or maybe ventilate them.
BB&B should NEVER have dissed Mike Lindell and, by extension, every conservative in our nation. Talk about utterly tone deaf.
But was not to be. As soon as the discontinued the high quality sheets and pillowcases that My Pillow put out, I never stepped foot in there ever again.
If everyone who was convicted of theft by a jury of their peers for say, anything over $250.00 in value, was sentenced to hard time for a minimum of 5 years, this crap would stop.
“...and some stores just not performing well in certain areas...”
Those “certain areas” being where they give away their inventory to non-paying customers.😎
“Now and them I’m tempted to go find something I need locally.”
Me too, but I soon regret it.
If you had talked about looking for a tie clip out loud I am surprised your smart phone didn’t Offer you several places to purchase one.
That is what happens to me all the time now
BB&B sold their name rights in bankruptcy court to Overstock.com. Those ads you see are rebranded Overstock.com, not technically BBB.
Not so sure. Porches in my neighborhood have much more stringent anti theft rules than big box or other retailers. My neighbors won’t tolerate such criminality.
same here! I spent thousands there and as soon as they stuck the shiv in I never went back.
