True. Was dismayed a few years ago to hear that as we guessed, many adolescents and older read a 1-3 page Wikipedia type summary and consider reading a book to be “deep reading”-—a special term educators use. Teacher: “Not all students are suited to doing deep reading. We have to be flexible.”
Hope surgeons, bridge designers and airline pilots still have to do “deep reading.”
As in likely caused by the flash-bang and having the baby stuck breathing the fumes for 35 to 45 minutes.
But that was clear from your comment.
The cops who left the baby stuck in the fumes that long should be charged with child endangerment at the least.
Others have commented on the utter lack of intel and related stupidity.
Lawsuits should ensue, and as noted above criminal charges.
“child endangerment” ... ooops probably the wrong charge, but Freepers know what I mean...
“it looks like they are both white, so this is maybe worth $40k”
Which is why there are not twenty users in this thread saying “Well they are Amish so they are guilty of SOMETHING and deserved it anyhow,”
I could pull fifty threads by morning with that very sentiment throughout.
Supporting law enforcement like this is why they are still continuing to abuse civilians no matter who it is or what color they are.
Wrong is wrong.
Innocent people are getting swatted now.
You had it right, at least child endangerment. But that would show guilt for the whole thing being wrong. The whole of it is much worse in total than just child endangerment.
LEOs love to puff up and consider you a liar when told that who they are looking for hasn’t lived here for 30 years. Had LEOs interrogate me 4 different times over a 3 month period, plus invade my back yard through a locked fence. Doesn’t matter that I went to the station each time to explain that the person they were looking for was in Florida, they kept coming. I used to be a supporter of the blue, but no more after their in-your-face intimidation.
Agreed.
FBI gonna hire this whole SWAT team for one of their SWAT or HRT teams.
Looking for someone that said the word Trump on Jan 6.
These guys need to be ‘handled’ by some men from the community.
Considering an officer saw a photo of the black uncle on the wall and jump to the conclusion that the little boy must be family, perhaps they suspected all five times that the property never changed hands.
Regardless, what they did was very stupid and cannot be defended
Maybe it dropped the stink bomb in its diaper and the cops thought it was chemical warfare
What are you going to believe, a lying cop or your lying eyes.
Considering the child stopped breathing a few times are we sure that’s not attempted murder? Or at least attempted manslaughter.
Cops are supposed to know what to do after they set these things off right? I’m betting leaving somebody especially a small child in the fumes for half an hour 45 minutes is not allowed
But it is not.
It either has gotten more and more common for the police to act in a irresponsible manner or this was always the case and now we are just seeing the other side. In living color.
I would say it is about 50/50.
Sadly in too many cases it is about the police wanting to be faces. They have dreams of "Hero Cop" in the press and being the subject of a movie deal. So they act too quickly, they do not check their facts, they jump to conclusions. Which is ok if you are BSing with your buddies. But when you are interacting with the public it is inevitable that things will go very wrong.
And the polices gave each other high-fives all around for a righteous rousting................
The badge lickers are not as visible as they used to be...
Cost the City of Yuba City Ca 20 million after they paralyzed a man after he was handcuffed and took him down, broke his neck, and THEN, laughed at him and ridiculed him.
Dam near killed a 17 year old in MO a couple years ago when the cop tazed the kid for 29 minutes causing him to go into cardiac arrest where his brain was starved of oxygen for at least 8 minutes.
Thousands of these incidents are happening all across the country.
Fast becoming the number one law suit filed these days. Civil liberty violations by PDs across the country and they should take the loss out from the police retirement funds to pay for these law suits.
Used to be called peace officers, now they are known as gestapo.
Gots to protect that gubmint pension, don’t you know?
“the cop tazed the kid for 29 minutes causing him to go into cardiac arrest where his brain was starved of oxygen for at least 8 minutes.”
Tazed the kid for 29 seconds..not minutes.
