MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Most of the newly ordered maps redrawing Wisconsin’s political boundaries for the state Legislature would keep Republicans in majority control, but their dominance would be reduced, according to an independent analysis of the plans.

Seven sets of new state Senate and Assembly maps were submitted on Friday, the deadline given by the Wisconsin Supreme Court to propose new maps after it ruled three weeks ago that the current ones drawn by Republicans were unconstitutional.

The ruling stands to shake up battleground Wisconsin’s political landscape in a presidential election year.

Why didn’t the republican legislature appeal to SCOTUS?

That supreme court race was a farce. First, tons of outside money. Republican was clearly outspent. He was painted as extreme and didnt have the resources to fight back. Second, turned the race about abortion rights. Dont know why, but this seems to be the main topic every election. And many women come out in droves to fight for it. Even those past child bearing age. I am a women and I dont understand it. It takes focus off every other issue. Finally, and maybe the most important, Daniel Kelly was a terrible candidate. He was appointed by Gov. Walker. Ran for re-election and lost by over a 10% margin in 2020. What made anyone think 2023 would end better. Again, he lost by over 10%.

Funny how that works.

I always thought they should have a rule that districts not cross and municipal or other government boundary (like county borders) unless they contain them in entirety. Same with neighborhood subdivisions as built.

In case they get knocked up by some guy they pick up in a bar?

It’s truly bizarre, I agree

This is why we need to concede abortion and on the platform we need to say we are pro-choice, end of discussion.

No. We need to spend the money on educating people why abortion is wrong instead of legislating our anti-abortion views. In the long run that will be a more successful approach.

not to mention the inept “leadership” of RPW chair Brian (judge me by my results”) Schimming. Currently pro redistricting narrative flooding streaming services. Response from Schimming- Zero Nada Zip Bupkis- Isnt communication and fundraising the 2 most important responsibilities of a state chair?
