Mugshots should be kept from the public until the suspect has actually been convicted, that is a conservative position, not a liberal one. Too many douchebags make thousands by posting mugshots online of both the falsely accused and the guilty by refusing to remove the photos of the innocent unless they are paid an immense bribe. They shouldn’t even have the pics in the first place.
The Oregon law is written badly if it is true that it keeps mugshots from previously committed crimes from being accessed, but because one of our most sacred rights as citizens is being considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law by our peers, mug shots of never-convicted people absolutely should be kept private. The press and the public can wait until conviction to gratify their curiosity. We have seen Democrats abuse the mug shot and keep walk practice for purely political purposes, after all, using these humiliations as weapons against their innocent opposition.
This guy could have been pinpointed years ago, in 1993, but the government of California dropped the ball -and the father did too, if he was let off because the father did not press charges. Or maybe the state didn’t give a crap if Dad pressed charges.
