Trump’s team reached out to RFK Jr. ‘early on’ about serving as VP: ‘Wouldn’t write it off’

People close to former President Trump made preliminary overtures to Robert F. Kennedy about the possibility of serving as his running mate, The Post has learned.

“Trump operatives expressed an interest in Kennedy early on, but it was all premature,” said one person familiar with the matter, adding that it was “right out of the box when Bobby announced” in April 2023 he was running for president.

“Anything’s possible. I wouldn’t write it off by any means,” the insider continued.

RFK Jr is not by any means a Republican. But then, neither is Trump.

If they do this, it would be a game changer.

And neither of them would live through the event. RFKjr has stated he knows that his uncle and father were taken out by the State, and while Trump is a megalomanic, he is smart enough to see the risks

You win presidential elections by winning the middle, independents are largest political identity in America.

Oh, by the way:
“The president and vice president of the United States campaign together and are elected as a team and not individually following the adoption of the 12th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which was drafted to prevent the nation’s two highest elected officials from being from opposing political parties. The amendment made it more difficult, but not impossible, for voters to elect members of two political parties as president and vice president.”

He IS a kook. But he’s a go-his-own-way-liberal. Would I want him as VP? Absolutely NOT. Would I like to divide Dems? Absolutely YES. My fear is that the election stealing is going to be justified as the rising up of the populace in adulation of the demi-goddess Michelle.

The key to great leadership is understanding the full context of the times in which you live—knowing when to go for “normalcy” and knowing when to make the big gambles.

That is what President Trump is all about....a RFK Jr. VP move is the bold one—and in my view the right one for this election.

If we’re determined to have a Rat on the ballot with Trump then let’s go with Joe Manchin!

1. He desperately wants to breath the heady air of a POTUS/VPOTUS campaign. So, i think he would jump at the chance and accept (He would find a way to reinterpret his latest ant-Trump utterance!),
2. Theoretically a moderate-conservative Rat. The media keeps telling us that’s true,
3. A reach out to all those moderates Rats the media assures us Trump has alienated.
4. Serving senator who would help Trump with Senate relations.

Ok enough BS on my part.
The guy I like best is Carson. Why?
1. A very accomplished individual,
2. Not part of the political establishment,
3. Wicked smart!,
4. Friend of Trump, not likely to undercut him!
5. Rational play of The Card.
A couple of other reasons.
Why not to pick him!
1. Age possibly the most valid reason,
2. 7th Day Adventist. Not because I have anything against them. It’s unusual enough the media would twist it and make it into a unnecessary but good for negative 30 sec sound bites issue.

“RFK jr is a wacky environmentalist .

Not dissing you but that is the idea in every presidential race. You never choose a running mate that agrees with you. VP’s have no policy power and rarely agree on policy. They are never from the same wing of the party. They are a meaningless political pick chosen to bring in the other wing of the party. Check my comment at #143 for examples and have a great day! In this RFK would be chosen to bring in the other wing of America.
(I think the odds are 100-1 against it but Trump is the only candidate I’ve seen who might try it).

Dr Franklin put it well:
<><>Trump-RFK, Jr. would be a unity ticket.
<><>Trump and RFK, Jr. could agree to direct supporters to vote for the other in certain states
<><>this way Biden, or a replacement Rat, can’t win an electoral majority.
<><>Trump supporters voting for RFK, Jr. in CA guarantees Biden can’t win (yay),
<><>at worst is a contingent election in the House which Trump should win,
<><>but Trump would have to deal with the RINOs there.

The party took a shot across Kristi’s bow earlier. Not sure if it scared people off.

I think she would be a better choice than most. Governors have to actually “do something” to keep their jobs.

Why ? He has said he didn’t have a problem with Trump’s policies out side of Covid. I just think Kennedy believes he can win in the Fall debates, which is very likely, and won’t make a VP decision that early.

Only purely rational ( No emotion!) do a VP pick that makes a difference in a winning and losing play - Meaning it gives Trump a battleground state.

Using a VP pick to get a battleground state used to be something people considered when they looked at VP choices.

Pick Kemp as VP - current governor of Georgia and asshole!

Why?

Yields a needed battleground state - Georgia!

Kemp would not fight an anti-Trump fight and fix the state for Biden or any Rat nominee. He would see a chance to royally feather his own nest and move up politically and have a shot in 2028 for the Prez. Rathsberger wouldn’t sabotage his guv because it’s a chance for him to move up to be guv!

If you’re not going to fix or can’t fix corruption find a way to use it to your advantage. As smelly as this is it solves a big problem - Georgia !!! Trump needs Georgia!!!!

Yes politics makes strange bedfellows and its way more rational then RFK Jr. Kemp through Rathsberger directly controls or heavily influences the outcome in Georgia. I don’t think anyone can honestly argue against that. RFK Jr controls nothing he has no office. The level of influence he has is theoretical that is in people’s imagination. If you’re going to make an amoral choice you might as well do one where you have a high chance of getting something tangible for it.
