Republican Rep. Tom McClintock battles two challengers in primary (voted AGAINST impeaching Mayorkas)

Longtime Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Elk Grove, has two challengers in the March 5 primary for California’s 7th Congressional District.

The 5th runs from Placerville down into Fresno County, covering Yosemite National Park and parts of Kings Canyon National Park. It grabs Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa counties as well as western El Dorado County and eastern Stanislaus, Madera and Fresno counties.

The top two vote-getters will advance from the March 5 primary to the Nov. 5 general election.

Tom McClintock

Party: Republican

Age: 67

Birthplace: White Plains, New York

Residence: Elk Grove, California

Occupation: U.S. Representative

Education: UCLA (BA in Political Science)

Offices held: U.S. Representative, 2009-present; California State Senator, 2000-2008; California State Assemblyman, 1996-2000

Campaign website address: tommcclintock.com

Q. What steps will you urge to help reduce federal deficits?

Stop admitting millions of impoverished illegal migrants; restore the ban on earmarks; rescind the hundreds of billions of dollars of green energy subsidies; stop funding unauthorized programs and require able bodied welfare recipients to work.

To avoid the impending bankruptcy of Social Security and Medicare, we need to shift new workers to sustainable investment and premium support programs.

Long term, we need to amend the Constitution to require a balanced budget and to give the president line-item veto authority. I have introduced or advocated for these reforms in Congress and have been consistently rated one of the best votes in Congress by both the National Taxpayers Union and Citizens Against Government Waste.

See the first interview question.

McClintock has a 92% Conservative Review Liberty score, but is obviously a total phony.

Primary is March 5th!

I remember when FReepers were singing this clown's praises back in the Arnold days.

All of these Republicans are just absolute dirt-bags.

I thought they had just filmed him with little girls, but now it looks like it was little boys all along.

“I remember when FReepers were singing this clown’s praises back in the Arnold days.”

I remember that too. I may have been one of them for all I know.

I just moved to Amador County and am sorry to say this guy is my representative (even though he’s far better than my previous rep was). I’m definitely going to look into his opponents in the primary. Would love to be able to support one of them.

I’ll have to amend my previous comment. Read the article and his two primary challengers are a hardcore dem and Steve Wozniak (no party preference but I think I can guess how he leans despite the answers he gives in the article). May have to hold my nose and vote Wozniak, though, just to try to send a message to McClintock (for whatever that’s worth).

Does a Conservative Review Liberty score measure how much they vote with the Republicans? Because voting with the Republicans has nothing to do with being conservative.

“”I remember when FReepers were singing this clown’s praises back in the Arnold days. “”

And what did the rest of you get when you voted for Arnie? McClintock would have been a much better governor...No need to apologize now! Let’s see what happens when Scalise comes back and they take it up again. Lots of disappointments to go around tonight...

Who and what are you talking about? Tom McClintock?? Fill us in as it’s certainly nothing I’ve ever seen about him.

My Rep, Mark Green voted NO. He won’t get my vote this year. His excuse was mealy mouthed consulting drivel.

And what did the rest of you get when you voted for Arnie?

Arnold did his job. He showed why big-name actors couldn't be trusted in the GOP and he single-handedly highlighted the RINO movement.

“My Rep, Mark Green voted NO. He won’t get my vote this year. His excuse was mealy mouthed consulting drivel.”

Only three Reps voted no. Buck, McClintock and Gallagher. The Utah Rep voted no for procedure purposes.

Where did you see Green voting no?

“McClintock would have been a much better governor...”

Yeah, What we really needed is a guy who would vote to support Mayorkas deliberate actions to destroy America. The guy has always been a self serving clown.

(Before PC’s became affordable)
