"a further erosion of GOP lawmakers' appetite for the basic tasks of governing."

Because the "basic tasks of governing" are:

Passing continuing resolutions every couple of months

Passing bills that the Senate passed without amendment

Never having conference committees

Continually "suspending the rules" so that Democrats can help pass bills that the Senate passed, without amendment

Never cutting a single line item of spending

Never eliminating a single government program

Of course, funding Ukraine

Etc.

The writers of these articles haven't been alive long. Governing looked very different in the 80's for example, when the Congress actually legislated. But that was Pre-Pelosi.

A growing number of their well-respected members are fleeing Congress as the conference pulls further to the right, and the departures are starting to spark worries about a further erosion of GOP lawmakers’ appetite for the basic tasks of governing.

“House Republicans are facing a growing exodus of experienced and talented members..”

Experienced and talented??? At WHAT??

They’re as corrupt as their democrat counterparts.

Good riddance. We need fresh blood in there anyway instead of clowns who have sat there for decades getting fatter and richer.

At least with newbies, we have some shot at getting things turned before they dive in to the corruption game head first..

When Politico uses “ experienced and talented members “ to describe the GOP, they are scared sh*tless... lol

A message from the Left: We are losing valuable RINOs. Help!

The horrible policies of Progressives, both Democrats and Republicans, have become so disconnected from reality, and have such disastrous policies for the USA, ordinary people can no longer ignore them.

>> alarming political maturity drain

One deep state man’s alarm is another liberty loving man’s happy.

And I guess maturity is a new synonym for calcification.

Thank you for that bit of comic relief!

One of the benefits of the continuous lies of the Democrats is, clearly, that it keeps their followers oblivious to inconsistency.

House becoming increasingly dominated by isolationists - a policy that never work and never will work. And in fact, always make the problems worse with its attendants: misery and death.

Pollutico is worried the Republicans are turning into a real opposition party now that a bunch of RINOs are being flushed down the toilet.

“Hardliners”

***********

The Left always uses terms like this (e.g., ‘far right’, ‘extremist’, ‘right wing’) whenever referring to conservatives, but never uses similar labels for anyone on the Left.

No one on the Left is ever referred to as a ‘hardliner’.

All these people have to do for about $174,000 a year is to show up to vote occasionally.

I think I could tolerate that sort of deal for about a year.

The Republicans in Congress should try to send to the states a constitutional amendment that would cap middle class property taxation, such as:

Property tax on any residential property of less than 2799 square feet of finished space shall be no higher the 2019 dollar amount on the property, or for a newer or since resold property what a similar property in the same area would have been taxed at for 2019 if it lacked owner specific tax breaks, increased by 3% per calendar year since 2019 and by any percentage increase to its finished space.

Fighting for such a property tax cap now in Congress would add the electors of several deep blue states to Trump’s total and make Congress turn deep red come November.

Even devoted Democratic voters do not want to get taxed out of their homes.

"A growing number of their well-respected firmly-controlled by the left members are fleeing Congress..."

Which is an altogether good development.

A note to Jordain Carney and Olivia Beavers:

In 10 months justice and retribution begins. You cretins are going to receive pain, lots and lots of pain. You can go ahead and make your escape plans to Canada now but you won’t succeed. Your days (along with the entire cast of troglodytes at Politico) are numbered. /spit

I’m beginning to think only corporations should pay tax: share taxes, sales privilege tax, income tax, payroll tax, real property tax, inventory tax, etc.

In other words, getting rid of the dead wood. I pray to God it's actually happening.

There are two possible futures:
1. Democrats have all the power and almost all of the money
2. Democrats have almost all the power and we get to keep our money and property because we fought for and got constitutional protections for middle class income and property.
