Federal authorities constructed a wall surrounding the U.S. Capitol Building for President Joe Biden’s Thursday State of the Union speech, drawing the ire of Republicans who painted a contrast between Biden’s open border policies and the heavily guarded Capitol complex.
The eight-foot black Capitol wall, approved by the Capitol Police Board, could be more heavily guarded on Thursday by law enforcement than the southern border where 1.7 million known “gotaways” escaped into the United States under Biden.
The Capitol Police say Biden’s State of the Union address is a designated National Special Security Event, which requires a “robust” security plan in cooperation with the Secret Service. That plan includes a large law enforcement presence behind a wall to protect the Capitol Building from invasion.

Maybe some feds will take down some of the barriers, and all of the warning signs, so they can arrest and persecute some more people for having the temerity to go near the Capitol thinking unapproved thoughts.
Also keeps people in so no one can sneak out early.

It’s not clear to me whether the fence is primarily directed at Trump supporters - in which it would be just another example of cheap political theater - or to protect against pro-Hamas demonstrators, who have been on ongoing threat in DC and around the country for five months.
How much and from WHAT budget are they putting up the Pelousi fence— to defend what? What are they expecting from what intel that would require more than the 5 layers of security (forces) that could be driven up and called up. Noone is getting in. the FENCE is absolute bullcrap.
